I plan to be at the ALMs tomorrow. For those that are their now, anyone spot this (new ZR1)...yet? Here's a snippet from the link:
Bad Boy Vettes has snagged themselves a shot of the 2009 Corvette ZR1 sitting pretty in a trailer and painted in "Velocity Yellow" -- well before it's expected Detroit Auto Show unveiling in January. While we too have quite a number of spy shots of the ZR1 already (as evidenced below), what we have now is confirmation to the rumors we'd heard from multiple sources that the new 650 HP super-Corvette WILL be lapping the track at Monterey this weekend for the ALMS season-ending race at Laguna Seca. If that's not enough to floor you, we'll have something very important to announce ourselves in about an hour -- so if you'll be in attendance at Monterey this weekend, you may want to stay tuned.
The car ran only two hot laps just before the ALMS cars took to the track at 2:30 PM for their one-hour practice. The track announcer started chattering stuff about "I've never seen a Corvette with those markings before." And "it looks like Johnny O'Connell's helmet." As soon as I saw the black fender coverings I knew what it was.
I was standing in the infield at the entrance to turn 4 and I can tell you that he came into the corner *very* fast (C6R speed for sure) and it made wonderful sounds (aside from the street tires squealing a ton as he had to haul it down for the corner.) It was impressive.
Immediately afterwards I went through the paddock looking for it - to no avail
Well that was Johnny O's Helmet and about his height. He is now the man of Corvette racing and since Jan has had most of the seat time in the Blue Devil I guess it is his turn. That is a hell of a stunt to have that car out there like that! I would like to know the times he put down. Go Johnny O!!!
Here's a few of the 09 ZR1 in action. Johnny "O" admitted to driving the hot laps (just two), and stated that the car was "sick fast" and handled great. He was joined by a Porche Carrera S, and Audi R8, and a Z51 Coupe...very briefly!

Why?
It helps to hide the lines of the car. I bet there is some side vents that are actually functional and they want to keep the look a secret until closer to launch.
