Well, it wasn't until my last session at Thunderhill yesterday that I finally started to understand that brake pads are expendable, but when I did . . . WOW! What a blast. My polished aluminum wheels looked like comp grey by the end of the day. These cars are unfreakinbelievable in the right hands, as was demonstrated when an instructor gave me a ride in her C6.
I think I did well for a noob, but there is clearly more car than driver at this point. Best compliment I got from several instructors was that I was following my own line, not the guy in front of me. Amazing how different (and good) it felt to get it right technically. These cars absolutely jump out of the corners when you nail the apex. I can't wait to do this again!
Thanks to Jeff (cfi_luz) and Doug (50 4Ever) and a couple of buds from work in their S4s for a great day. Only have a few pics . . . mostly boring pit shots. I'll post them later so Doug can see his bad self coming out of turn 13.
Jeff . . . late in the day a guy walks up and asks me why our cars looked so much alike but yours was so much louder! Was it just your after-market exhaust? I told him your Corsas freed up ~160rwhp!

Then I told him the truth . . . looks can be very deceiving.
And to all of the land yachts and boxsters and 335s and such out on the highway, nice as they may be, who always seem to want a vette trophy, lets just say that mine is a "knowing" smile as I wave you by!
