So I've been on the Corvette Forum for about 2-1/2 years now. I know many of the people on here on a first name basis. I attend many of the local events - Hell, I host some of them myself. When a race is announced, peope flock there. When a big car show is happening, people show up in mass.
Two weeks ago I announced a charity event called Corvettes for a Cure. LINK Knowing how involved the people on this board are, I figured we would have a great success. Now here we are, two weeks later, and we have four people saynig they will be there. This is PATHETIC. Here's a chance for a bunch of guys to get together with their cars, have a few drinks, enjoy a great catered BBQ lunch with live music, and raise money for a great cause. Perhaps I overestimated the quality of people we have here? I didn't think we would need half-naked girls to get you guys to come out.

I have a life out side of the Corvette world and I will be leaving for SEMA that morning, so I can not help you out! If not for being out of town, we would have probably made it to that one.

I understand that many people have other things going on, and I am not naive enough to believe that everyone can show up. However, four people is just sad.
I'm pretty sure owning a Corvette doesn't suddenly make someone a wonderful person with tons of free time.
Is there any particular reason you didn't come by my house for even 5 minutes during the last three weeks when I could have used some help on my car rebuild? I'm kidding, but you get my point.

I just flew home from Canada on Sunday afternoon. Otherwise, I am always up for drinking beer and playing with cars - and dodging work.
Hey Dave,
Contact the WSCC (Western States Corvette Council) they may be able to get you a groupe of Corvettes to come out for this event...if you need sacontact number let me know.
Deno
PS.
Sometimes a post like this is needed to light a fire to get people interested...let the flaming begine!!
i will be in Las Vegas already when this takes place. so as for my self and a few other people who are on this forum... we will all be out of town . we have been talking about this for over six months...corvette runs are all year long SEMA only comes once a year
The guy is frustrated that is why he is making those comments.
Dave is a very nice and caring person.
One or two suggestions for next year FIRST check with members for a feasible date for all. SECOND..for a large turn out contact run it by WSCC..so they can run it by the clubs under them.
