Default Lemoore.....What?

Anyone in/near this area? I'm out of the navy in like 3 weeks, but the wife is getting shore duty orders up there. Anyone know anything about this place/other places near by?

About 3hrs from the Bay Area. About 3hrs from LA.

Sounds like like your caught in the middle.

Welcome home Thanks for your service.

Pretty much smack dab in the middle (of nowhere)
There's a Casino right there, pretty good sized one.

Welcome to California!! Lemoore isn't Hollywood or San Fran. Its more in between Green Acres and Mayberry with Sheriff Andy runnin the place and Aunt Bea making those mighty fine pies! And the nice part is your only an 1/2 hour from the costal highways which makes for some really nice rides on a Sunday afternoon. In fact, let us know when you get settle in and ready for a drive. We'll organize a Welcome get together. Maybe we can org some rides to a central spot along the coast in Monterey for Lunch.

Welcome to Ca and Thank You for your service time.

Thanks all. I have been there before for school-but never left the base. I did some searching around online last night, and it really seems I'm not gonna like this place too much lol. I'm used to living in major cities. My wife on the other hand may really enjoy it as she's from the country. One thing I do like-is that it's relatively inexpensive to live there. Nice houses that are roughly 1,450/month would be about 3,000/month in San Diego easy.

Hi and welcome to California. As already stated you are about halfway between the Bay area and LA. You are a short drive from the central coast, Pismo Beah in particular is a great place to visit especially if you like to ride ATVs you can get out on the dunes there, and enjoy the beach. If you scuba Santa Barbara is homeport to several boats that dive the Channel Islands.

Thanks for the service and thanks again to the wife! The central valley
is probably best for geting to other places quickly. All the rest of us
use it to get where we want to go. If you ever decide to track your
car for fun, there is a SCCA run 3 mile road course just south on I-5
at Buttonwillow ( about 10 miles north actually). Then there is Laguna
Seca up in the Monterey area.
Real Estate in the central valley has really taken a beating in the area
just to the north of where you will be. Probably lots of rentals that will
negotiate if they don't want to sell at low prices. Lots of forclosures.

Welcome to CA.
Last year I drove to Virginia Beach and experienced the traffic there and was happy to get back here. I retired from Lemoore after over 30 years in the Navy and now live in Hanford about 20 miles east of the base. If you enjoy living in a place were you can still take leasurely drives anytime of the week without traffic you will like it here. The coast is about a 2hr drive from here. The National Parks- Sequoia, Kings & Yosemite a little over an hour or two away. San Francisco & LA about 3hrs. What more can I say the area is ideal and centraly located. The people that have negatively commented on this area are blowing smoke and don't know what they are talking about. Hanford has a population of about 50K, Visalia is a bigger town and about 20 miles east of Hanford. Fresno is about 40 miles north of Hnfd I am not sure but the size is probably around 400K. Housing is very reasonable especially compared to Virginia Beach.

You better get some nose plugs because they have some pretty big cow feed lots and the smell goes for miles in all directions.

Go have a nice steak at Harris Ranch on I-5 and take a real deep breath of air outside then come back and tell us about it.

Hey 1st_Vette. Welcome to Central California. You will find that Lemoore is a good launching point for many great trips throughout California. You have Yosemite National Park within a couple of hours, beautiful Lake Tahoe only a half days drive away. The San Francisco Bay Area or L.A. are also about a half days drive from Lemoore and there is a ton of stuff to do there. Then there's Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks a couple of hours east of Lemoore. You might also want to check out the Corvettes Of Fresno club. Fresno is about an hour from Lemoore, and we have several members who live in the Lemoore/Hanford area. Please check us out at http://www.corvettesoffresno.com/.

Again, welcome and hope to see you sometime soon.

Gene...
