I'm going to install an LS7 clutch in the near future. For labor alone, I've got a couple of quotes ranging from $800 to $1,000 to install clutch, slave cylinder, and master cylinder. Out the door with parts, labor, and taxes will be around $1,500. Are these fairly reasonable prices or kinda high on the hawg in the South Bay Area?

Call Robert at Advanced Dyno (707)425-3966 and get a quote for the work. The qoute that you have so far sounds about right. RICH
-If you can get the labor for $600ish I'd say jump all over it. I've always done clutches myself on the vette and it's a LOT of work. Not necessarily hard but you have to take most of the car apart. If you screw anything up, it's a long process to take it all back apart again.
-Be wary of the LS7 clutch. I read the good posts about them and installed one in my 2002 heads/cam Z06 and it was awesome. It lasted about 2k miles and then started chattering BADLY. It felt like the car was going to shake itself to pieces from an easy start (stop light etc). right now I have the car in pieces and will be putting in a Textralia in the next week or two. Do some searches on LS7 chatter and you'll see I'm not the only one who had this problem.
Yeah, you guys are right about the LS7 clutch. I guess I was using a little deductive reasoning when deciding on installing an LS7 clutch. I figured it's on a new C6 Z for a reason handling the 505 bhp and soforth. But that clutch was designed for the new Z and would be getting retrofitted on the C5. I've heard of the Textralia for quite a while. It has many good reviews and I'm guessing it was initially designed for the C5.

I just ordered a TEX 700 from Robert yesterday. I have heard nothing but good things about them and they seem to be a very streetable setup.

Just my .02, most of the problems with the LS7 clutch are actually on the new C6Z's. Many have started to chatter less than 600 miles off the dealers lot.
I have an LS7 clutch in my C5Z that's dynoing 470RWHP with a big cam. The car has been on cruises, a weekend of autoX, a few dyno pulls, and several burnouts and trips down the drag strip. It has been holding up like a champ to all- even being launched at the starting line. I'm happy with mine, Newtech did the install
Also I saw a 625+RWHP supercharged LS1 with a LS7 clutch holding the power just fine, even after several dyno pulls.

I had my clutch installed in January. I'd say there are a good 5K HARD miles on the clutch so far. No issues, heck my passenger output shaft broke before my clutch did- I was expecting that if I was going to break at the track that day, it'd be my clutch that would go out on me.
I have friends making similar power in C5Zs that have tried everything from Exeddy and Mcleod to the Textralia- they all had issues, early on too. For the price of my LS7, I don't mind if it doesn't have a full life, but I'm very happy with how it's been holding thus far.
