July 20 for sure. Haven't decided on the other dates yet. Maybe we can get some other CF member up there too.

I am already signed up for the October 27-28 days with NASA in Group 4 at Infinion those days. If I knew earlier then I may have signed up for this one instead, but I already gave the CC number to NASA. The Friday date may be do-able if they have an advanced class open. If there is a number of people signing up, then I will take the day off and come up.

And for those that want something sooner SpeedVentures is at Button-
Willow 6/2 & 3:
http://www.speedventures.net/

I haven't committed yet but probably will make it down for at least Sat.
They are running 25 CCW-A which is the fastest track config and lots
of fun if you like high speeds. Fairly hard on brakes so go with lots of
pad.

For anyone new who wants track time without pressure of lots of fast
cars, the THHPDE is running on the 14th but I'll miss it due to other
vacation plans, enjoy if you go!

Hope to also make the 20th at TH. Sidney, just in the middle of 3 days
in open wheel cars at Sears Point and cut my best time from 1.57 to
1.51s today. Low 1.40s are possible so I'm not near the limits yet.

Randy:
That sounds like a lot of fun. What type of open wheel car is it? The Formula Mazda's or the Formula Mitsubishi's?

The 20th is looking better for me, hope it's not too hot!

The Formula Mazda's, about 1050# w/o driver and they used to say 150
HP, now they are saying 160HP, but less than a Star or Pro Mazda.
Great Instructors at Russell Racing and I worked hard to get it down.
Really different feel when you lose it three times on the same entry
going too fast around turn 6,
and are able to catch it each time with throttle even though you miss
the apex by about 8 ft. Car control with that package on race slicks
is really fun .

What's NCRC like for DE/OT? Low key without wannabe racers?

NCRC does have more experienced drivers in the upper groups, I first
ran with them after about a year on track and needed somebody they
knew to give me a thumbs up. I don't think they do that any more but
they don't like folks being over aggressive. What I like most about them
is that when you get out of the entry group you can still request a
coach and get somebody, usually, that is very experienced that will try
to get you to focus on just one or two things to improve your laps.
When you consider that Pro drivers still get coaching it makes a lot of
sense to continue to get input and has helped me a bunch. I used to
be 8 or more seconds behind Sidney in his C4 and seem to be continuing
to close the gap. Coaching helps. Also, I've found that in their upper
groups people are very good about point-bys and I try to return the
favor.

NCRC is one of two clubs, the other being Speedventures that provide AMB timing for an additional $30. It is a great way to chart your improvement from session to session as well as event to event. I like monitoring the times after sessions to see how the other cars in my group are going, its always nice to follow a car going 1-2 seconds faster than you, you generally learn something. Randy, you are getting too close for comfort; if this keeps up, I will have to buy a
C5 Z06.

Just checking. It's one thing to have somebody dive bomb you when you have a cage in the car, it's a whole other story when it's my mostly stock C6. :-)

Just looking for groups that are out to have a fun, safe time without too many crazys.

I think NCRC would work well for you with that approach. I have even
heard them get on folks running in the ARC race group if they are too
aggressive. From my POV, key to not getting dive bombed is to get the
faster cars by so they don't have to get frustrated with a high HP car
that doesn't quite have the corners down as well. Even I get tired of
cars that pull me on the straights and then I crawl all over them in the corners.

Looking forward to doing BW this next Saturday with Speedventures,
now there is a group that lets things go further than most before they
put folks on notice. I don't think I've ever seen it get down to car
contact but I've seen several both roll and take on walls pushing to the
limits in street cars without race setups. As with all on track fun, pays
to keep track of the mirrors at each level, there is always somebody
faster. Also pays to know your own limits ...
