Anyone had a deck built/replaced lately?

Keep in mind that in Nassau County, the upper deck needs to be 100% self supporting - you can no longer attach the back end to the house as its means of support; the frost line depth for piers is 36".
As for price, the lower deck should be about $15-17 sq.ft. and the upper deck about $25-28 sq.ft. Trex railings are $25 linear foot.
$16,000 seems to be about right for the job.

The current deck is done that way. There is a row of support posts that is an inch or two from the house that the frame attaches to. The current deck looks like it has nine support posts and he has specified nine posts in the contract, so i assume that is the plan but will confirm.
