Normally you qualify to be in a "run group'. Most organizations and drivers use the honor system. There is no stimga if you're a beginner, hell we were all beginners once. The great thing is that you are allowed, and will learn at your own pace. Don't feel intimadated or uncomfortable, we are all here to have fun. No attitudes, or chips on shoulders Its amazingly safe, no passes without the car getting passd pointing you bye (point bye) unless you have experience and are in a higher run group. The corner workers at the tracks are very well trained professionals, this isn't NASCAR. Safety is everyones utmost concern, and normally unsafe drivers are asked to leave and don't return. Get to a track, and have fun

. If one signs up for advanced group and he/she only brings their ego and novice driving skills, they will be pulled from that group. Honor System for safety

So is the 6/11 date at Thunderbolt looking good? My wedding anniversary is the 10th so have to plan carefully! It's a mid week date so a little tough for me. Weather generally still nice/moderate though. Want to have something to look forward to after this miserable winter!

Does your organization have rules regarding passangers? Most allow advanced drivers only to have passangers as long as 16yrs or older, sign waiver, legal guardian or parent signs waiver, approved helmet, driver and pasanger have same seat/restraints, advanced drivers only, and only allow passangers in the afternoon sessions.

Almost all organizations allow a car to be shared, but I think each pays full price, sorry to the OP if I've over stepped my bounds in answering questions, just trying to help. I think it would be stupid for an organization to allow that, could you imagine 25 friends each paying $10.00 each driver taking 2-3 laps over the entire day of normally 4 sessions. We went online and let an org know that their time saving/track day decision of combining novice and advanced drivers in the same run group was a very bad and very dangerous decision. I talked to a couple of novice drivers and they all said they were nervous about having advanced drivers passing them at high speeds. It wasn't the drivers fault, it was the organizers responsibility to provice a safe enviroment for all of us. We'll never run with them again.

I remember that. Farrari off 2 and 4 wheels 3 times and at the end of the day driver was thanked for coming out by event coordinator. Oh driver was novice group, just got the car and never on track and instructor in the car. Bad all around

George you took my example to the extreme. If 25 people wanted to do a track day I'm sure they could negotiate their own rates as a group lol. I'm asking for 2 people to share 1 car. They can't afford dropping $250 for a track day each. The organizer could set limits on how many people can share a car as a compromise.

I see it working easier for the advance group since they have all been signed off to go solo. In the lower groups I would be worried that I signed off 1 student and then another student jumped into the car without being checked out. Personally I think it would be hard to manage and 1 bad apple could easily spoil the day for the rest.

I wouldn't mind taking one or two days off, but 10+? I want to track twice a month and def cannot use up all my days off on this. Strange dates, I guess this is geared towards retired folk?
I was looking into NASANE and their dates are weekends. Wonder if there are any other track clubs that do weekends. Sorry to derail the thread a bit David, sure does sound awesome.

But to answer your question there are clubs that have weekend dates. Many times it will be more expensive since the track costs more for the premium time.

After many years of doing track days I just took the last year off to figure out what I want to do next. Right now I am traveling to racing events and taking pictures. Not sure if it is less expensive or less time consuming, but I really enjoy it.
