Default Pocono Raceway Track Day - May 19, 2012

So I hope some of you can make it to this and give a few exotics a run for their money. The car club that I'm a part of, which welcomes any and all makes/models, is hosting its third annual track event at Pocono Raceway. You have a few options as to what you sign up for, but whatever you choose it will be a great time.

The event is always a great group of guys who just mutually enjoy cars, no trash talking about one specific brand or another...well at least not outside of some good spirited, competitive fun

Date: Saturday, 5/19/2012
Time: 7am - 6pm
Place: POCONO RACEWAY - Long Pond Rd, Pocono, PA MORE TRACK INFO

Pocono Tri-Oval Raceway & The 1/2 Mile Front Straight

Following Fees Apply:

$ 35.00 pp - General Admission to all persons attending (Incl w/ Full Track Option)
$ 35.00 pp - Catered Lunch 12-1pm
$135.00 pp - Option 1 - Taste of the Track - (1) 20 min Oval Session
$185.00 pp - Option 2 - Taste of the Track + - (2) 20 min Oval Sessions
$285.00 pp - Option 3 - FULL Oval Racing 8am - 12:30 pm
$285.00 pp - Option 4 - ROLL ON RACING 1:30pm - 5:30pm
$525.00 pp - Option 5 - FULL TRACK PASS (Incl General Admission) Oval & Roll On Racing ALL DAY.

Prices will increase after 4/30/2012

ALL track & racing participants MUST arrive at the track and be through tech inspection before 12pm. NO EXCEPTIONS !

Not interested in driving on the track? Come and enjoy the day, be a spectator with optional lunch. Just register and choose general admission ONLY.

Please be advised there will be NO TIMING systems being used at all.
If you've been to an ER event in the past you know they keep space limited, more often than not people tire out before they run out of runs. So don't worry about only getting 1 run if you do the roll on option.

The event is open to all cars, stock or modified. The runs will be bracketed based on power level. We have everything from stock Mini Coopers to BMW M3 to Shelby Cobras to 1000+ HP GTRs to Lamborghini's. The only requirement is that you wear a SA rated helmet.

Roll On Racing:
Similar to the Airport Runway events, the front straight of the track is 3740 ft.
You will be able to start at turn 3, 25-50mph roll and then accelerate for 1/2 mile against your friend, enemy, or stranger. It will be a war of the track, expect a variety of American Muscle, JDM, and European monsters to show up and do battle!

We have also arranged a group rate at Mount Airy Hotel & Casino, let me know if anyone would like details on that.

Do you have a URL to the site that explains the differences between option 1, option 2, etc.

Have fun guys, remember those of you with high HP cars need race fuel in there on track!

(I would personally put a few gallons in a stock car, but thats just me and I know better...)

Is that clear enough for you? Sorry that "etc" threw you for such a loop.

Yes....got a message from Seth Rose. He asked what car....told him '05 Vette & his reply was "It's fine". I take that to mean that I can run w/o a rollbar. By the way...what's a "top heavy" convertible. Is he referring to something like a sedan convertible?

top of the page says
$250.00 pp - Option 4 - ROLL ON RACING 1:30pm - 5:30pm

right? Only when i went to go register does it tell me

"event fee 25.00" and then
"ROLL - ON RACING 1:30pm - 5:30pm
1:30pm - 5:30pm Side by Side Roll-On Racing 1/2 mile
$275.00 each "

for a total of 300.... Am I missing something (completely possible and if so please let me know how to register for 250 total!!!)

I mean im not arguing over 50 bucks... just sad that its not what was posted ... might still go just wait till the day before to register once I can see the weather and make sure it will be a perfect day for 300.

I've driven my Z06 on three of the NASCAR ovals and would like to drive on Pocono, but no way am I going to spend $250 on gas and $400-500 on motels to drive 1700 miles round trip, to find out that option 1 or 2 means that I'm cruising around the track at he same speed as I drove on I-80 to get there or option 3 means I can't pass the slow car in front of me, or option 4 means I can only start rolling from 50 MPH and won't be able to hit 140MPH before having to brake. At Talladega or Daytona, I can come out of turn 2 or turn 4 at 145 MPH and accelerate to 162 before having to slow down for the slow car in front of me.

Is it too much to ask for clarification of what the different options mean?
