To avoid getting getting stopped, I always had the plate mounted to the front of my C5.

YES, you will get stopped and ticketed for no front plate. Especially by the Transit Police who monitor the areas around the Fort McHenry tunnel and also the Harbor Tunnel (in particular along 895).

I’ve seen others that loop a bit on the front hood and found it scratching the hood of the corvette.
I'm assuming you have a C7? I'm using the bracket (that really isn't a license plate bracket but works as one) that came with the C7. It mounts to the middle of the grill and doesn't touch the body. Yes you have to bend the plate a little.

Technically GM didn't design it for a plate. There was a video years ago where GM said they didn't design it for a plate. If I recall it was designed just for the "corvette" panel that can fill in the center. While it technically may not have been designed for a plate you can't tell me they didn't have that in mind. I think it couldn't officially be for a plate due to minimum height restrictions from the ground (12" to the bottom of the plate it looks like) for some states. If it was it wouldn't have made that restriction. Where the "official" bracket which touches the bumper is high enough to meet 50 state requirements. And yup - drilled my own holes.

Nope. It had stayed put for 4+ years and 63K miles with no issues.

Let's get this thread back on track; if you want to keep talking about how to mount your front license plate @Dynatron please start a new thread with that topic. This thread is about Maryland cruise locations and related events.

Updated some venue information that I recently acquired. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, you may find that some of these events are not being held as scheduled.

I asked about this morning's Potomac Cafe Racers Meet & Greet on their Facebook page, and the answer I got was that they weren't scheduling the event ... but if some folks with interesting cars showed up anyway, it wasn't the responsibility of Potomac Cafe Racers.

Just went down to the Bethesda Cars & Coffee site (Corner Bakery & Cafe, next to Montgomery Mall). Arrived about 8:30 AM

I was the only one there. Oh, well, maybe there will be some "interesting cars" at tomorrow's Potomac Cafe Racers get-together.

Due to the ongoing worries about COVID, there was no scheduled Potomac Cafe Racers meet-and-greet last Sunday.

That said, a lot of people brought a lot of interesting cars to the site. It wasn't packed as usual, because of the bitter cold temperatures.

I am pleased that I finally got to the gathering in a car that doesn't belong on the far end of the back lot. (Mine's on the right.)

Went to the Betheda Cars & Coffee Saturday morning, there were approximately 20 cars and people chatting, friendly group. There weren't any other corvettes but a good selection of foreign/domestic/classic cars across the board.

Capital Region -- Capital Auto Club's Sunday-morning Potomac Cafe Racers have been shut down in Potomac Village. The reason was that too many participants made too much noise, revving their engines and doing jackrabbit sprints. The neighbors complained, and finally the shopping-center's owner turned us away. (I learned this from the event organizer and founder, last Sunday morning.)

He has found a new spot in Poolesville, MD, at 19701 Fisher Avenue (MD-107, across from the McDonald's, and behind the BB&T Bank). The hours are the same, 9 AM to 11 AM. It's a smaller venue, so get here early!

This meet is going to a biweekly schedule, probably the second and fourth Sunday of every month, from 9 AM to 11 AM. The first and third Sundays will give way to New Market Cars & Coffee, at Adventure Park USA, south of I-70 on Baldwin Road (MD-75 exit) -- also from 9 to 11..

For more on Poolesville Cars & Coffee, go to www.capitalautoclub.com

For more on New Market Cars & Coffee, go to Facebook and search for "New Market Cars & Coffee."

Hey guys Zach up here in Baltimore County, does anyone know where to get tires and an alignment up here who wont screw up the car and the lockouts on the front?
Id appreciate the advice. Just DM me if you know of a good spot. I usually take it to Tony's down near DC but I have bald bald rears and dont really want to risk it anymore.

Sorry for the highjack.

Posting up to subscribe, and hopefully revive the interest in the Mid-Atlantic!

Need to rejuvenate more cars-and-coffee meets in the area. I know it's getting colder, but now that the elections are over and the COVID craziness has subsided, it would be great to get some new setup in DelMarVA!
