I posted this in the bar also because I'm not sure how many have seen this thread.
I was at the hospital this afternoon for a few hours with Danny. He's extremely weak. E-mailing, calling or texting him isn't suggested as he probably won't be getting any messages and he is largely unable to talk.
If anyone was thinking of going to see him, now might be a good time to do so. His kids are making arrangements to take him home in a few days and make him as comfortable as possible so they can all be together.
He smiled for me twice today........

I've been to that place with family members in the past, and I wish the best for Danny, his family, and his friends. I have never met Danny in person, but I remember a story about him handling a really ugly work situation with a lot more class than I ever could. I'm sorry to hear that he is struggling so hard now.

Deb, thanks for the update. You are truly an angel. I don't personally know Danny but my thoughts are with him.

Thought I'd drag out a picture too to send with my "Get Well" wish. Fun photos of good times with great friends always make me smile so here is a smile from last summer's cheesesteak run:

So sad to see such a bright light in the CF NE begin to flicker away like this. With all the technology we have today, and all the breakthroughs in medecine, sometimes we are still just in the hands of God. My prayers are for Danny,and his family. Looking for a miracle here.

It really is sad Ralph......especially when just a few short weeks ago, we were having breakfast at Ihop once a week and he was laughing and joking.........and now he is so uncomfortable and you can seen the sadness and misery on his face. He doesn't eat more than a few bites a day and fights for every breath when the oxygen mask isn't on.
He is coming home today and a hospital bed is being set up in his apartment for him. A hospice nurse will be coming in from this point to work with the family and help them through this difficult time.
I'm going to go over there just one more time to say my goodbye's as I don't want to intrude on the family's time with him. I will be glad to pass on any messages to him for you.

I'm sure you know what to say Deb. We all have great memories of the times we have shared with Danny, both as a group, or on a one to one level. Please just let him know that he is in our thoughts, and that he will always be a part of everyone here.

I met Danny at Carlisle a couple of years back. We were part of a group all staying at the same Hotel. My wife and I didn't know anyone in the group before we got in on the Hotel deal and Danny, like the other members of the group, was very outgoing, friendly, and made us feel welcome. We really enjoyed his company.
My thoughts and prayers are with him.
