[Toys for Tots]Official T4T Thread!
Well, we're starting to get close and there's multiple threads going at once so I think its time for an official main thread in the sticky section!
Lets review...
Remember to bring one or more new, unopened and unwrapped toy. If the toy(s) requires batteries, please purchase the batteries and tape them to the outside of the box.
This is a rain or shine event so don't let anything stop you from coming out for such a great cause!
We do ask that you register for the event by CLICKING HERE and you can also check that same page for updates.

I volunteer in the MAIN warehouse for southeast PA ... and we are instructed to always removed the batteries (HAZMAT, believe it or not). So, while batteries may have been collected for the past 6 years ... perhaps they've been gettng removed at the warehouse.
We also have to remove anything related to food-stuffs (ie: Candy Canes, M&M dispensers, Easy-Bake Ovens, etc).

Anything which cannot be utilized by TFT (including clothing, and used toys), is donated to other charities. I see plenty of "requires batteries" toys donated ... some with, and some without batteries. I am not doubting that batteries would be required, however, given that at least one USMCR processing facility (PM me for specific info) removes various banned items from the gift stream ... it may make sense to verify (directly with the USMC source). I'd hate for people to spend extra money on batteries, if they do not follow the donations. I believe it is a "corporate" decision, but I could be wrong.
There's nothing worse than a kid getting a cool toy Christmas day and not being able to use it because the parents can't afford batteries.

This will be my first year. Would someone tell me if there are staging areas, to form (or join) a caravan on the way to Farley Plaza? I will be coming from north of Philadelphia.

Our local branch is the distribution center for 2 counties. The toys will go directly from our event to the store front that will open in December for parents to go and get the toys from.

Just a head's up for those folks buying toys. Fisher Price just had a major recall on roughly 10,000 toys. So please Google the information on the recall before you purchase your donation toys.
