Can anybody get a NY police report for me?
Looking into purchasing a new DD, but it's been involved in an accident. I'd like to get more details on it, if possible- New York Police Report Case #32424786.

Carfax should pull the record if a police report is involved but I dont think much information will be on it. If can go to the report's originating police prec. then you might be able to get a hold of the report. But I am not sure about the formalities getting one since you were not the one of the parties involved or the insurance company's representative. However, I think it will be worth a shot....

That is not a standard NYPD report number. Can you narrow it down to boro, town etc? Also the cost of the report is usually only about $10
Yes that is inside information

You need to know the location and date of the accident. Then you have to go to the precinct that covers the location. You need to fill out a form and the last time I got one (2005) it was $10.00. This must be done within 6 months of the accident. After that you have to get the MV104 from Albany and I believe there is a waiting period between the 6 months and when Albany gets it. I worked in the claims department for our local utility and used to get them on a regular basis. If this wasn't hard enough, all precincts had different times that they could be picked up. You need to see the Highway Safety Officer at the precinct. Good Luck and hope this helps. I'm not 100% sure but I believe you had to be a party involved to get it.

Are you sure that isn't the Insurance Company Claim Number?
If it is the NYPD; The way that number reads it looks like the report was recorded in the 32 Pct. It was #4247 of the year 1986.
32 (pct. of occ.) 4247 (accident number) 86 (1986).
If it is from 1986, although they do keep some older stuff around, it is unlikely you will be able to get something that old at the pct. no matter who tried to get it.
You are probably better off just trying to go directly through the DMV for something that old, and not wasting your time with the pct..
Normally for a copy of an accident report you need a check or money order for $15 (they won't take cash) made out to the New York City Police Department. Go to the pct. of record and get the report. You should always call ahead first to find out when the PO (Highway Safety Officer) that handles the reports is in. It varies from place to place, but they tend to favor working 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

By "New York Police Department", do you mean the NYPD? If so, are you sure you have the right number?
