Let me be the first (unless I type too slow!) to wish you all the best of everything that a [Bar] tender could wish for in the months ahead (or until we reach the 1000 mark).
Resolutions? Yeah! I have them, but if I told ya, I'd have to kill ya!
Best of a Merry Christmas, and a VERY Happy New Year Bob!

I stopped making resolutions. They never worked for me.
Now that winter is officially here, I'm officially depressed! At least the days begin to get longer starting tomorrow.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Bob, lets make it happen. I always need a "push" or reason, having good health, and living to see my kids grow old isn't enough incentive. I'll lose 20, you loose 20 by April 1st. Lets think of some interesting bets, that the loser has to do. If we both lose 20 or more than the bet is off, but it has to be 20 lbs. Tomorrow morning we both post a pic of our bathroom scales with us standing on them. anyone else want in?

Might as well make it for 2012, last one ever. Since we'll all be dead and none of this will matter. I need to start planning for the end of the world. I'd like to leave some kind o f remembrance/legacy so the future inhabitants of our world will honor, cherish, and be awestruck by what I've done. hmmm......

I can tell you from experience that this is the best thing you can do for yourself other than quit smoking (if you do).
Three years ago my doctor finally said I needed to go on meds for cholesterol after 20 years of warning me. I didn't like the idea of daily medication with a list of side effects that could give you a heart attack just reading it. So I went on a diet and started to really use my gym membership. I lost 30 lbs and have kept 25 of it off. Probably in better shape today at 50 than I was at 30 and no daily meds.
Not to be too preachy, but keep at it. It is worth it.
Best wishes to everyone for a Great Holiday and a Healthy New Year.

Anyway....
One day last summer I was on the boardwalk at Coney Island. There is weight machine that charges you 50 cents and gives you your weight and fortune. This really big heavy person gets on the scale and deposits their money. Out comes the ticket and after reading it the person throws it over their shoulder in discuss. Curious as to what his person could weigh, I picked it up and it said, "one person at a time please"
Ok, that was a joke, but on New Year's Day the Coney Island Polar Bear Club does their annual dip in the ocean for, "Camp Sunshine" (easy Shermon, this has nothing to do with your car) I think if you make a donation you can visit the aquarium for free. My friend Pat keeps telling me he would like to do this, I'm doing my best to get him to commit. There is free parking at the Keyspan Stadium, and a short walk along the boardwalk. Stop at Nathan's for hot dogs. Here is the link

I really hate the winter, and especially January and February. The only thing that gets me through it is looking forward to the winter break in February. The kids are off from schools so we usually go away every year for the break, and by the time we get back it is almost March and we can look forward to a 60 degree day every once in a while.
The good news is that the break is early this year so the countdown will be a short one. The bad news is that it's early and we will still have a good chunk of February to get through when we get back from vacation.
