I have ATT DSL at work, cable internet at home, I don't notice a huge difference surfing, the cable ay be a bit faster. The dsl is slower on upload speeds though if you are sending big attachments. -Dan

DSL is slower than Comcrap, but cable shares bandwidth over the neighboorhood trunk, so speeds can vary based off of neighboors usage. Plus they cap downloads and throttle traffic.
For most people, they won't notice much of a difference between cable and DSL. Heavier users may notice something, but a lot is governed by the server side response, not just the pipe hooking up to it.
Dealbreaker with Comcast with me was the frequent outages, variable speeds, and most importantly, rate increases every so many months. Only when FIOS came into the area and they had competition did they start to offer competitive packages. Sorry, but you don't continue to get my money after ripping me off all these years. Now, I'm even more happy about the switch since they've also started bandwidth caps and throttling streams.
