This was the worlds FIRST true penitentiary, a prison designed to inspire penitence-or true regret-in the hearts of criminals. The original seven cellblocks are spread like the spokes of a wheel, and had running water and central heat before the White House. Its Vaulted sky lit cells held many of Americas most notorious criminals, including bank robber "Slick Willie" Sutton and "Scarface" Al Capone.
The Prison stands to today in ruin but is being restored to what it had looked like when it was closed in 1973.
We will take a guided tour of the prison which will last 1 hour per tour. Price for the tour is $12.00
Parking is not a problem and will cost $10.00 per car
After the tour we will head across the street to: Jacks Firehouse Restaurant www.jacksfirehouse.com
You do know that parking is horrendous and on the street (WHEN you can find it). We love ESP- what an awesome old building. You should see it for Terror Behind the Walls at Halloween. The place is spooky enough as it is without all the monsters jumping out at you (by the way, Terror Behind the Walls has a lot they use a few blocks away and a "Ghost Bus" to take you there). We can get in for free as many times as we want since we are members. They use the money to keep up the old building so it is something that we don't mind giving to between Corvette raffles.

Well? Gloucester only offered a 3rd grade education, unlike Youse, that went to Pennsauken grammer schoole! <======== a mere smear @ pennsauken!
Okay! I'll be quiet................................... ................................ I'll see youse behind bars! (and @ the bar!)
It's "grammAr" and I have no idea what a "mere smear" is. By the way, I went to elementary school in Merchantville!
Besides all that. you can sit in Jacks's open doorway and see a great view of ESP while you are drinking your martinis. We had the sandwiches last time & a couple of beers.
