Default Thinking of going to the White Mountains - suggestions?

Thinking of going up for Friday and Saturday.

Need suggestions for:

- Motel/hotel
- Great driving roads
- Things to see
- Good route up from CT other than 91?

The Village at Loon Mountain is a good place to stay.

You can drive up Mount Washington, to the top !, bring a sweater, it could be 70*F at the bottom but by the time you get up top it could be 45*F. The last couple of miles is dirt (the last time I was there)but the view is spectacular. It is the highest point in New England and I think holds the record for the fastest recorded wind speed of over 200 mph !!.Have a nice trip

Is the dirt road rocky?

I'm taking my "nice" car up.

Route 93 to the Kancamagus Highway (Rte 112) to Bear Notch Rd. Follow Bear Notch Rd to Bartlett and drive through Crawford Notch on 302 near the Mt Washington Hotel. Then take Rte 3 North and Drive up through Routes 115/116 and Rte 2. The Mountain View Resort in Whitefield is a beautiful place to stay. If you're worried about parking your Vette there are some free standing cabins at "The Patio" in Twin Mountain. Not fancy but each cabin has it's own covered carport.

Enjoy the drive

It's not rocky and won't hurt the car. It's an experience you won't forget.

Nice! Reminds me a little of Colorado.

I actually decided to go in 2 weeks for a few reasons. Namely, traffic and rain potential. And my new camera lens hasn't come in yet.
