Cripes buddy..
I already said yes to John Porter ages ago for the BBQ or I would have joined you on this one. Next time I guess
These are cool events. Too bad there are so many other things going on that day.
I've been going to Watkins Glen in the beginning of Sept. for the past few years. It commemorates the first road race held in the US after WWII. They recreate the race through town, on Saturday, but have vintage cars in all classes racing from Friday to Sunday at the track on top of the mountain. Where else can you go into a quaint little town, pull up in front of the diner for breakfast, and see vintage Ferraris, Bugattis, Jags, and American cars like Vettes, Ford GT's, Cobras ,and Shelby Mustangs. After a cup of coffee, and some bacon and eggs, they all get in their cars, and go up to the track to race. Nothing like it.

I just got off the phone with Jeff Brown who informed me that (I pre registered for $25) the $25 show registration allows the whole carload entry to the event, but if you are not showing a car (registered between 0700-0900) you will be charged $17 per person to gain entry to the days festivities. (which is still only $34 a couple, and goes to a great cause).
