I built my garage a couple of years ago. I spec'd out a 24W X 32L X 11 ft ceiling garage KIT from 84 Lumber in Plainville. The kit included everything from framing to roof shingles to doors.
Concrete contractor was Dewey Hinman (Dewey's Concrete) in Ledyard CT 860-572-6016.
He was really good to work with.
Not sure if he goes as far as Avon.

Steve; Give me a shout if you need technical expertise. I've been involved in many a building from the ground up. Pointers aplenty. Best of luck, Dave. (Some questions to ask yourself...are you going to want a drain in the floor? Do you need a reinforced "pad" where a lift might be installed? What will be your ceiling height requirements? One large door or two 9' units? Wired for 220? Heat? (propane heat furnaces are great, they draw outside air so there's no danger of fumes igniting. ) I'm around...
[i] purchased plans from 84 lumber 26 x 32 gave them to the local lumberyard, who built the walls, trusses, log siding, delivered. home depot delivered the roof material, along with the doors. total cost was 15k including digging and concrete work, heavy work but was worth it these plans made easy to get permits from the city
You need to look into the pole building foundation garages. It's a stick-built garage on top of a pole building type footer. I'm not sure about all the details, but I can get them to you if you want.
My brother just built a 1200 square foot (30 x 40) race shop. From start to finish, the contractor took less than two weeks. Cost was 12K for the foundation (cement block, but attached to poles) 12 foot ceilings, man door, overhead door, shingles, gutters, etc. All he paid for after this was the cement and I helped insulate and finish the inside.
Maybe someone else here can provide more information about this type of structure. But I'd definitely look into it...Two weeks and he basically didn't lift a finger.

Steve; Good talking to you today...I thought I'd put a note on the general forum 'cause lots of guys in the Northeast sometimes don't get to the local section... This is a ttt for you. There's got to be some builders in the area that can help you with the garage and save you the architect $$$. Dave

Dave, thanks for the ideas
