Default C5 in tragic accident on LI.

Horrible accident on the Wantagh Parkway. I hope this wasn't anyone from here.

It's sad that a life was lost but it's also another lost to speeding....

they aren't kidding when they say "speed kills" hopefully those here who do speed will use this as a lesson and lay off the pedal a bit.

The car doesn't have a personalized plate and there's nothing that stands out about the car that makes it recognizable other than a C5 vert. Hopefully the driver never knew what hit him.

I first thought it was Chris Haase car, but I checked the plates from the corvette challenge pictures and they dont match.

Pretty sad There is really no give to a tree. At least telephone poles will snap off but a tree just stops you dead.

What an awful site.....My prayers to the family.

The parkways here are no place to speed. Besides being unsafe and illegal, they are too narrow, too crowded, and the cold weather means zero tire grip. The poor guy probably just got a little too anxious after being off the road due to the weather. Rest in Peace.

Pretty sad to see. I have to agree with several comments here. Spirited driving can be fun, but alot of the local highways, especially in NY and Long Island are so crowded, narrow, and in such bad condition that it's just not safe. Every time I go back there, I'm amazed. I grew up in Queens near Cunningham Park, and traveled all those roads until I was in my early 20's and moved to Jersey. They seem so much worse now than I remember. My prayers for the driver. After the intial, " Oh sh.....!!" He probably never knew what happened.

So sad.

I had lost a friend almost 20 years ago on that stretch of Wantagh Pkwy. He was a passenger in a C4 in which the driver was speeding, lost control and went into a tree and the car went up in flames.

May he rest in peace.
