Default 228 Teacher's in Jail /strikes continue in Freehold ....

I've been following this strike, for the past 4 days or so ... every morning on 101.5-FM - I think it's terrible, these damn teachers should be happy they have decent salary & job to begin with, in this economy, right ? Plus they're union members !! ... what else could you ask for !?

I hope these arent the teachers that get VERY good pay, here in Hillside teachers must have some of the worst pay and a pretty retarded educational setting... but they didn't start a strike. There was a dispute once in my freshmen year of high school, I remember some teachers wanted to do something with some contract and were walking around with pickets before class, when the bell rang atleast they came back.

Freehold? I thought that was a rich community, maybe the teachers are getting greedy? Too bad for the students, wasting their time, I'd be pissed if I had to go to school in the summer.

I don't agree with the teachers at all. In the long run right now the kids suffer. Do this if you have to before school starts so you can get them an uninterrupted year. Hire some new ones and let them rot.
My opinion on Unions will not be voiced as it is more volitile than politics, abortion, and religion for me. Leave it to say I work in the financial industry and understand the overall economic repercussions of unions that affect us all.

the teachers are some of the highest paid in Monmouth County, I say let them rot in jail. Only the kids suffer in this case. Also, like Bliss said, they should be lucky to have a job, especially with all the layoffs that are happening right now.
Oh, how would you like to work 200 days a year, have every holiday off, every weekend off, not have to work nights, and get paid a good salary, not too mention that if you suck at teaching, the teachers union will still let you keep your job :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:

My father teaches in Elizabeth high school, let's see....the pay isn't so great, the kids are like animals, he was out on disability because he hurt his shoulder breaking up a fight in the hallway that the security guards were too gutless to get into, and he is constantly threatened by young f***ing punks who will never amount to anything but criminals and welfare mothers. I'd say that perhaps a little empathy might be in order before anybody passes judgement on this one.

To say Freehold is a little tamer than Elizabeth is a real understatement. I agree with you about your father's quandry and commend him for what he puts up with but its not the same thing. Like comparing a C5 vette to a '72 station wagon and saying they are the same because they both have 4 wheels. Never heard of or saw a something that even resembled a security guard in any school I've ever been to. Not necessary. Worst thing that ever happened in these schools is a cut class or a joint in the bathroom. Let them talk to the student's from Elizabeth in their jail cells for a while and hire new ones. How'd your dad like a cushy job with more pay and students that would rather study than stab each other? I hear there are openings in Freehold.

The benefit package the school board is offering the teachers is very simular to what I now have working for the largest corporation in the world. GM. It ain't that bad.

Don't forget they only work half a year also. I am pro union, but I think there are other things for these people to consider. Like the kids that can't even speak proper english. It is not easy being a teacher, my uncle was one in CT for 20 years or so. He now has a pesion most of us dream about and a house in FL. Plays golf ecery day and comes up when ever he feels like it. Also gets a brand new Caddy every two or three years. :nopity
