Just waiting for the insurance company to stop acting like an insurance company and make up their mind that it is totalled. But, it looks like that is the decision and they just have to drag it out as long as possible. I'm going to probably take the money form that and buy a used Lightning, as my parents won't let me buy another Vette anytime soon.
Thanks for the concern everyone who was involved or asked,
Chris
That sucks Chris.....what Insurance company you got? What body shop is the car at? I am sure someone can at least make an offer to get the motor and trans if it is totalled....A Lightning is a good choice, but I would try to wait for the Chevy SSR pick-up, that is a sweet ride and convertible and also a Chevy!!! :chevy
The car is insured through Allstate. It's not at a body shop, but rather at D&C Chevrolet in Tenafly, NJ. I would like the SSR, but I figure the Lightning will be cheaper for now, so I will be set for a C6 when the time comes :D
Chris how about buying this nice grand national with only 45,000 miles on it :)
My father is pretty set on me getting a pickup truck so I can do more work next summer...But I'm not sure yet, I still have a few tricks up my sleeve :reddevil
Cyclone? Typhoon? Camaro LS1? C4? 300GT? 300ZX TT? Just some reasonably priced options.
Or if you say it like Brad Pitt in the Mexican "El Camino".

If they total it, find out what the "salvage value" is. That is the amount that the insurance company will sell you back the car for. If it's only $1000 or so I'd keep the car and sell the rest of the good parts off of it and make some $....
Location: One thing is for sure this kind of discourse and BS would not be tolerated on the NCRS forum. NJ.

I bought my totalled 66 for $500 and got almost $9k out of it parting it out.
I don't think they will be that stupid on a 97 but it never hurts to ask.

According to my father all sportscars are out of the question, but we'll see :bs
Chris,
Maybe you should have us all over and we could talk some sense into him :D
I think you should get another Vette. I mean how many cars are so safe that you could total them and not only walk away, but also drive it home at 100 mph.
Did you try that angle with him? :D
When I totalled my 85 when I was in college I had to drive a Z24 for a whole summer :mad
