HELP - Can someone near California, MD look at a 67 Camaro for me?
I'm seriously considering a 67 Camaro convertible and have spoken with this seller multiple times. Would greatly appreciate if someone could look at the car for me. Need not be a Camaro expert, but if you have an old car or restrored one it may help. I'll provide a list of what to look for on the car. Please PM or e-mail me. THANKS in advance!
I can't help with looking at the car for you, but I can offer some experience...
Seeing where you're living, don't consider a car in the north east. Look where you are and to the west. Cars around here rot like crazy. The seller's wording was very evasive. I'd think twice about anything jacked up that high - someone wasn't thinking straight.
Nothing great about the car from an option standpoint, and no originality.
I know convert's are hard to find and demand a good price, but I think you can do better...
just my two cents worth.
I do know my way around muscle cars. Mostly a GTO guy, but have had a number of gen 1 and gen 2 camaro's and firebirds. the last was a 70 TA 4 spd, zero rust, two owner, not messed with car that sold in the same price range as the car you're looking at. IMHO it was 3x the car. Not a 'vert, but being white with blue stripes, and only 3100 made, was a head turner, and never saw another one like it.

good luck
Thanks for the thoughts, you're further justifying why I want someone to see it. I've spoken with the seller multiple times, so this is the next step. Would prefer not to buy a car from the NE and to buy one in nicer condition, but Camaro values are rising at an unprecedented pace right now. Finding a driver quality first gen Camaro convertible V8 4-speed for $20K or less is nearly impossible. Don't care much about originality (been there, done that, want something to mod and enjoy). I'm looking everywhere (ebay, Craigslist, cars.com, classiccartrader.com, etc...)

15K car on a good day....jacked up rear is way outta wack rust in front of rear wheel on driver's side, inner fenders should be flat black not body color, interior is shot and will need ALOT of money to fix......hell this car makes my 69 Z28 with a non original 396 in it look like an absolute gem, hood is out of wack tail light trim looks pitted, overspray on the rear valence, I assume you know a cowl doesn't belong on a 67, the console is missing, you're looking at a few hundred bucks for a crap repro if you want......parts on 67-69's are BIG money, not as bad as a 55-57 but not far off. My guess? this was a race car with that shifter jacked up rear, and they pulled the real motor and 12 bolt and threw in the stuff thats in there to sell it to him or somewhere down the road. you don't need traction bars a jacked up rear etc. for a lil 350.
It's actually been listed on Camaros.net twice, first at 23.5 then at 21.5. I believe his bottom dollar is about $1K below his "buy it now". Seller claims to not be a mechanic and that his competent mechanic installed new springs & shocks that raised the rear (questionable - why not take it back to him and get it corrected?). I've seen the car you referenced and it appears nice (Likes: red/black, A/C, Corvette ralleys; Dislikes: 2-speed PG would have to be swapped for 4+ speed, no engine mods, flat hood). I can probably save myself a lot of time & money by paying a little more for one with engine mods, headers, exhaust, cowl hood, etc. - Looking for a driver, not a numbers matching car I'm afraid to drive. If you or anyone else knows of one like this, please let me know.
