Boston Regionals this week - question
My car is entered in the NCRS Regionals. I will be driving my car to the Event. The Ops checks will run from 12-4PM on Thursday and all cars are to be inside the trade center by 5PM. The schedule states that "Showcars driven to the meet will have cold start check performed Friday at 7:00 AM.".
I'm not staying at the hotel and wasn't planning being at the event on Friday (can't take off too much time from work). Does this mean I have to be there early Friday to start my car?
My car will not be judged until Sat.
Also, why is there a cold start check for cars only driven to the show?

You would have to be there Friday for the cold start unless you come very early Thursday and your ops check is late on Thursday to giving your engine time to become cold....or you can just take the deduction on the cold start.
The reason for this is to check the engine's cold start function (high rpm with an automatic step down in rpm). It would not be cold in most cases after driving to the event. If your car were trailered it wouldn't be an issue. They are just trying to give you the best chance to gain as many pts as possible. The ops portion in flt judging is very important because of the point values involved. The part either works or it doesn't there is no gray area here......so you can either gain or lose a lot of points very quickly.
BTW, good luck!!
