Any Skiers Out There?
#21
I'm always at Hunter every Monday. The weekends are NUTS. If it was going to be a trip I would be willing to go on a Sunday or Monday if you can swing it. If conditions get better at Plattekill, then thats a great place to go on a weekend. It's never crowded but they have limited snowmaking and it's hard to find. It's about 20 minutes north of Bellayre.
P.S. one way to beat the crowds at Hunter is to stay on the west side, if you can. Some scary steeps back there

I used to go skiing with my college buddies. I tried teaching my wife but she's scared she'll break something so I haven't gone skiing in years. I'd love to go with you guys.

Great!
It looks like we have the makings of a good crew. I need to get myself in gear - i.e. get new gear, and get my DD runnning.
I'm still leaning toward:

I'm still leaning toward:
- a day trip
- a Sat or Sun in Jan or Feb
- HMSBTSMCOTW - Hunter Mountain Ski Bowl, the Snow Making Capital of the World.
A trip out west is no good for me this season, but I'd like to do a weekend in VT at some point. I could probably get a handful of non-Corvette people to go to that, too. I have a friend who may still have a place near Killington.

I've only been to Bellayre once. Do you think it would be a good place to bring a group?
Is Plattekill the same place that used to be Deer Run, or is that a different place?

Bellayre used to have a run called Deer run? I basicly grew up there since my father ski patroled there for 30 years or so, it's not as crowded on the weekends but it doesn't have the terrain of Hunter. That might be a better idea for a one day weekend trip.
I would love to join in on a CF ski trip, anyone who likes bumps, jumps, steeps and terrain parks....follow me. when?

If you want to "feel" the love, head over to Chris' all guy nude bar thread.

The back double diamonds are as steep and hairy as almost anything around, even out west. Icy as hell though so you could end up in a hospital pretty quick, as a lot of people do each week. Bellayre has some good mogul runs at the top but they are short, the rest of the way down is all intermediate. A good bar too. I have a place up the road from it. I would prefer Hunter for a trip. Going there tommorow, hope it's not iced up.
So how was Hunter??

anytime after the holidays that anyone wants to meet up for a day or weekend of skiing, let me know. I'm in Marlboro, MA so getting anywhere in a few hrs is no problem for me.

I didn't go.Heard there was some serious Ice up there. Ice sux. Just booked a trip to Utah for the week of Jan 7th. Going to hit Powder Mountain, Snowbasin, and the Canyons. The conditions upstate are starting to get to me, always icy. Would move out west if I could.

Why not consider a midweek trip to Hunter. We used to go on Wednesdays by bus. They stoped on L.I., Queens and I thought NJ. It was party time on the bus and Hunter was not crowded.
I have pre-parabolic stuff (90s' Rossignols) so I would have to rent new equipment.
