Good Dealership Experience -- NY Westchester Area -- Plus Snow Pics
In case anyone is looking for a dealer with a good service department, I suggest you give Country Chevrolet in Warwick, NY a try. The service manager is Bill Hanlan, but everyone there was super nice. Had a nice loaner car (clean Impala with 6,000 miles -- they are a Chevy dealer, after all) for the overnight it took to do the work.
In addition to cleaning up the work "done" by another dealer (you may remember my column lock recall post), they replaced a faulty oil sensor and air check valve (requiring removal of the intake manifold). All done under the GMPP warranty, no fuss, no muss, the car was absolutely properly repaired. Even the radio station was still the same, and the volume wasn't cranked up, which, as you know, isn't always the case when you pick up the car.
In addition, they troubleshot some codes, and checked all the fluids (diff, tranny, cooling, etc.), and actually told me nothing more was required, which was the right answer, since all those fluids had been changed about 30,000 miles ago. Two weeks ago, another dealer (I believe we now call them stealerships here) had told me that I needed a "brake system flush," a "differential flush," a "radiator flush," and a "transmission flush," each for about $140 x 4 = $560 worth of "flushing."
Again, it's nice to have a positive dealer experience for a change, and to share it with you all. Give them a try. Warwick, NY (near Greenwood Lake), and the roads to get there are Corvette heaven (Route 17A).
Oh, the pictures -- took these on the way home tonight after leaving Country Chevy:
Yes, the car has snow tires on it, it's a convertible, and it drives just fine, and handles very well in the snow:
nice pics, i also had the AIR ck valve and oil press. sensor failure; are you using the goodyear m+s emt's?
Yes, Goodyear M+S -- I use the SCF1s in the summer on OEM Z06 wheels, and the runflats in the winter -- not crazy about being in the snow by the side of the road thinking about a flat. At least with the run flats, I can get to a warm garage.
Thanks for the compliment on the pictures. The snow and ice you see in the pictures was from today -- the first winter I had the car on factory stock run flats -- it wouldn't even move on that kind of surface. Heck, it would slide backwards.
With the M+S, it drives like a regular car -- you still have to know how to drive in the snow, but it's absolutely not an issue any more. Actually, it's fun.
I was at the same dealership that morning you dropped your car off,I was getting my pickup repaired and noticed a nice vette parked right by the service door, they do good work there

Thanks for the compliment.
As you noticed, I agree with you. Good work, and a nice bunch of guys.
Glad it worked out!Where the hell is warwick in relation to, say.white plains or the tappan zee??
I know it looks like a drive on Mapquest, but I have been as far north as Derby, CT, as far south as Yonkers, and as far east as Milford, CT, looking for a competent, decent dealer with good service for Corvettes.
After my recent experience with Curry Chevrolet in Scarsdale (20 minutes away), a 45 minute blast up two winding mountain roads seems like a pleasure.
The other (closer dealer) that knows what they are doing, had a two month wait to service a Corvette (I even called GM's zone office and GMPP). I did not want to wait two months with a defective oil pressure sensor.
Thanks for posting that recommendation. They're not far from me in NW Jersey and they advertise on our local TV stations. I'll check them out if I should need to (hopefully not, though).
