Grond whimpers rather than roars - fixing that tomorrow
OK. So my tune is W--A--Y off. I took Grond to Slowhawk (Dez Racing in Mass) today to do a dyno pull and man, Grond sounded GOOD - but ran like crap. A measely 357rwhp and 340rwtq.
Slowhawk showed me the charts and my knock sensor was working overtime - retarding like crazy back to 22degrees when it shoould be at 30degrees Plus my LTFT was at 25 when it should be at 0....
So - I'm taking it to Slowhawk tomorrow for a complete tune. The stock TC causes some issues but there is a boatload of hp and tq to be found in the tune.
Here's the "Before" graph. I'll post the vid when I get home - it sounded great

Stephen,
I've been away for the past couple of weeks and have been wondering how the monster cam install was going. Sounds like you're on the right track with the tune, the new dyno chart should be interesting.
Good luck.

thanks for the update stephen. what are you expecting with the tune: high 380s, low 390s? It is hard to tell from the graph, how did your AFR look?

AFR was good, but it looks like either I have a terrible tune from "that unnamed vendor" (don't want to get in trouble with the mods) or a MAJOR vacuum leak - as in cracked intake manifold
I was hoping for close to 400rwhp.

Told you not to drill your TB
I hope you get it worked out.

For a cam only untuned on an LS1, thats pretty good numbers! Wait till you bring your AFR up to 13.1 and fix the knock sensor issue. 400rwhp is tough to get on a cam only mod with an ls1 and an auto. I predict 390 and believe me thats alot for an A4!!
ps- I got my AFR cam..Im coming for you Grond!!

You are going to need a bigger cam, Ike

WW, Fast Intake and Fast 90mm TB do make a difference at that level. Anything that can be done to help breathing is a win-win when you get to that kind of power range.
I'm surprised that you did not go with the G5X-4 cam

That cam is way too big
honestly I would go with it, but since ECS has so many reliable tunes with the G5X3 I decided to stay with that one....

Verdict is in : Grond is a Beast!!!! Many many thanks to Slowhawk (Don) for an outstanding tuning job. It's like a whole different car now - it has manners, is streetable, plays well with others and wants to lift the front tyres at WOT!!!!!
Before Tune numbers : 357rwhp and 340rwtq.
After Tune numbers : 384rwhp and 364rwtq
But the numbers do NOT tell the true story. I can drive it normally now. The bucking and surging are history as is it being intractable and recalcitrant in traffic. I love it all over again!!!!

Heads, intake, TB, stall and gears will put me in the 450+ range The tune was very conservative because I wanted driveability over raw power - so it's detuned a bit, which is fine by me.
Yeah, I probably won't catch you but hey - it will be fun trying

Congrats EG...picking up 27rwhp from a tune alone is amazing! Lets see some vids! I want to hear it purr...
Just goes to show how powerful Ls1 edit can be to tame such a monster cam! Your torque comes on early. Its already a fatter curve than mine. I think im only at 260lbs @ 3000 RPM.

Damn!!! Those numbers are awesome!!!! Makes my tiny 322 rwhp feel inadequate. Dammit, stop tempting me to go down to ECS you guys!!!
