The after 10am rule you refer to is for the reserved areas. I was referring to unreserved spots that people try to hog, and the club I was referring to is not one of the few that are granted reserved areas on the map. Every day I get there early to get a good spot, and every Friday and Saturday it seems I have to deal with someone who's PO'd that I'm parking in their group's area that they had the day before. I really wish the management would say no tents/canopies left on premises overnight to cut down on this, or perhaps designate a non-prime area (like up on the hill) where people could leave their tents up or save spots for others.

Actually, the 10 a.m. rule is for the general Fun Field. People who are paying for RESERVED spots don't have to be there at all, and nobody is allowed to park in their spot no matter what time it is. That spot is guaranteed to be for their use only. There is a sign on each reserved spot with that person's name on it, and only that person can park there (unless that person sold it and Carlisle didn't have time to make a new one). But if you're (you meaning anyone) parked in general fun field and have a tent up from the day before, and then don't show up until 11 the next day and someone else has parked in front of your tent, there's not a thing you (anyone) can do about it. But there is not supposed to be any saving spaces. They implemented that rule several years ago, especially about putting barriers, tape, chairs, etc at a spot to save it for the next day. Groundskeepers now go around at night and remove anything like that. And that's good.
One year, Carlisle had "Veteran's Only" parking, but you had to pre-register for it and you were sent a special window sticker identifying your car as such. I registered, even had to send them my DD214 as proof. Well, the area was prime parking, and you should have seen how many guys were veterans and wanted to park there, but hadn't signed up for it, and got really angry because they couldn't. I can understand them feeling upset because it was veteran's parking and they were veteran's, but that's the way it was. They've never had that available since.
Boy this year, on Friday and Saturday, the weather was perfect. And with the C8 being on site the event was PACKED! You couldn't squeeze another car onto those grounds. I saw more than one argument about parking take place. But yeah, the best thing to do is to get there EARLY. We've been there at 6 a.m. or earlier at times and only ever had one problem in all the years we've been going. And that problem was with a club too. I actually like getting there early when it's cool, have some breakfast, wipe down the car, and then sit and watch the cars roll in.

So are you saying if you put up a tent in the fun field, in a non reserved area (GS registry, 63-67 registry, etc.), you have that reserved until 10am for subsequent days??? If so, can you point me to where they spell this out? That was not my understanding, and that's not what the event program or the security director said either. My understanding is that the whole non reserved fun field is first come, first served, each day, period. The 10am rule, from what I've seen, is for the reserved areas like I mentioned before, such that after 10 anyone in any Corvette can park in those areas if the designated folks aren't there yet.

As for the "reserved" spots, I get what you're saying, but you're missing what I'm saying. When I say "reserved" spots, I'm not referring to club areas, Calloway, Carlisle Blue, etc. areas that have sections set aside for them. You are absolutely correct that after 10 a.m. anyone can park in those spaces.
I'm referring to the actual RESERVED parking spaces that people pay the $150 or $400 for that GUARANTEES them that space for the entire weekend regardless of if they are there or not. Those spaces have the person's name on a sign at that spot. And they are the ONLY people who can park there. They are given special window decals that identifies them as those spots too, so that officials can drive around and check and see if someone is parked in the wrong spot. In which case, they will be forced to move.

My husband and I are one of those that park on the Fun Field (non-reserved spot) and put up a canopy. We fully realize that canopy does NOT guarantee us that spot every day!! I have to disagree with Rich on the 10:00 time. It is my understanding that any spot, canopy or no canopy, is open to anyone at any time (not talking about the Reserved spots). Those who know me, know that we are on the field at 5:00-ish in the morning!!! We have had the same spot for almost 20 years, but we know it can disappear at any time. We also remove the top of the canopy each night and lower the frame.
By the way, we have had the SOQUIK license plate from MA for 18 years. Recently moved to SC and look what we have now! Love the heding - Nothing Could Be Finer!!

Hey Elaine! You're living the WARM life now! Glad that you were able to keep that plate and the "Nothing Could Be Finer" is the truth!
As for the 10 a.m. discussion, it was put in place probably around 7 or 8 years ago, maybe even more. Lance even had it on here at one point. It may have been dropped since then. I don't know. I'm old. lol

I agree with Elaine. Canopies, chairs, etc. do not prevent anyone from taking a Fun Field space at anytime unless you have paid extra for a reserved space or have specifically designated club parking. Maybe the 10am rule applies to club areas not filled by 10am? Not sure about that.

I believe that 10am comment is regarding the (what I won't call reserved!) designated areas, for grand sport registry, ZR1 registry, and the like. Those areas are designated for just those cars until 10am, after which anyone can park there. Grounds open at 7 or whatever, so everything not reserved or designated is fair game once the grounds are open.
Many thanks to those of you who get out of bed early to get your spot, like I do!

According to Lance, everyone will still get a free t shirt in their goody bags. The $20 t shirt is the one you can buy in the store / or a different event shirt. But everyone still gets their free Corvette America/Carlisle shirt in their bag.

We'll be sending out press releases in the near future, but I figured I'd share it here first. We'll be hosting "Best of Bloomington Gold" for Chip's Choice this year. It'll showcase some amazing Corvettes that I believe everyone will enjoy!

The dinner on Friday evening for the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation will be a go as well, forgot to mention that earlier. We appreciate all of your support.

I have my reserved spot again this year across from the customer relations building. I wouldn’t miss it. Great event, great people!

Just went to the Carlisle Events website, found the page for registering on the Fun Field, but can't find any mention of reserved parking.
Linky, anyone?

There is no link to register online. You can only sign up for reserved (which was sold out last I heard) by calling the fairgrounds. If they're sold out for this year, don't give up hope. They have a waiting list, and someone on here always seems to not be able to go at the last second and will be willing to sell, or they may add more spots.
