CORVETTES AT CARLISLE August 27-30, 2020

This whole thing is kind of disheartening for me.......this will be my first time going to the event and I was stoked for sure but now with all the show veterans cancelling and now the vendor list getting smaller and smaller I'm starting to get less and less excited for this!! I mean I understand the concerns I really do especially if your in a battle with cancer or other life threatening illnesses.....I'm no spring chicken myself lol I will never downplay the virus or any other disease I'm just merely stating that I may just be a one and done person at this event.....if the higher ups at Carlisle Events deem it safe to go why not go? If you maintain the guidelines set social distancing wash ur hands etc etc we will all be safe right? I was hoping to get some lifelong memories out of this event....meet some people.....get some upgrades done on my car.....see that part of PA which I haver been to etc etc.....I know were in unprecendented times and everyone should do what they feel is best for them but I can't just put my feelings aside cuz I was excited and now I'm not!
As I said in my previous post, I've been a vendor at every Corvette Carlisle since the first one. I'm not hiding in my basement during these times, I've gone shopping, I've gone out to eat (what little outdoor only dining we're allowed here in Jersey) and I've socialized with friends and family. My not going this year has more to do with business, than the virus. I sell parts and between spaces, hotel, meals, gas, tolls, etc, it costs me over $1500 to be there for 5 days. Because of the internet, swap meets aren't anywhere near as good as they once were, add in the virus, and a lot vendors, like me, have decided it's probably a good business decision, to skip this year. That's not to say the virus isn't a concern, but to be honest if I do have a concern about the virus, it's not from meeting with other people at Carlisle, it's more about handling cash that I have no idea where it's been, or who's handled it.
Luckily, I'm only about three hours from Carlisle (less not towing a trailer full of parts), so it's easy for me to just go for the day. I'm going to pick up a friend of mine who lives in Hershey, and spend Friday wandering Carlisle. I just won't be selling there this year.

At this point, I don't care if I'm the only Corvette there sitting in the field by myself with just a turkey sub from Subway and a rag and bottle of detail spray. This COVID19 nonsense has taken up enough of my life this year. As long as the gates are open, I'll be there all weekend.

We are working with them on some remote talks, walk-arounds, etc. They'll be sure to make an appearance- despite it being a virtual one!
Kerbeck will have a great display of new vehicles!

I went ahead and registered for the NCCC again, but honestly there is zero chance I actually stick around for judging. Will be an interesting year, that's for sure. I know this disease has turned political, but I just hope everyone behaves, follows the rules and guidelines, and we all stay safe.

This was supposed to be a big year for me. A friend of mine set me up with a spot on Woodward. Which has been cancelled for a while now. It would have been my first time there.
Now I just pulled the plug on Carlisle. It will be the first time in 18 years that I miss it.
For me it is the overall effect that this mess has had on it. Greatly reduced events, suppliers and spectators. Not to mention staying in the hotel room and going out to eat every night. Also, a lot of people from all over the world.
Plus none of my family wants me to take that chance. I certainly don't want to bring it home to them. ( I know the chance is low )
I figured that it all added up to it would be a good time to take a year off. Bummer

What's throwing everyone off about how safe things are right now is that the numbers won't go up for weeks after these shows. Numbers started going up two/three weeks after Chrysler, especially in surrounding counties. They'll most likely go up again two or three weeks after this weekend which will be close to the time of Corvettes. And a month after that show, how high will numbers be? And there's no way of tracking it because people come from everywhere. Each person has to make their choice. I can't be selfish enough to put my wanting to go to Carlisle ahead of what I could bring home to my family and friends. Not everyone feels the same way I do, especially the younger ones. Sadly, today, it's all about money and "me". Yeah, I know I'm an old fart, and maybe I shouldn't be so cautious and just enjoy the rest of my years. But I haven't gotten to be this age by being stupid either. I made the right choice for ME by opting to stay home this year so hopefully I'll be able to enjoy it next year when I'm another year older. To all of you going............have fun, but stay safe.

I've never parked in the "fun field" - if someone here has cancelled and has a pass they're looking to sell drop me a PM. Still planning on trying to organize a meetup at the King Of Prussia rest stop on Friday AM for anyone heading out from NY/NJ area...

You can buy it at the office when you get there. Gate 3, red building on the left as you enter the fairgrounds. Wear a mask (mandatory).

Well I am going to attend Carlisle....I have a supply of fresh masks, hand sanitizer, wipes for the room. I am keeping social distancing and will warn my friends that yes I am glad to see them once again but please respect my space...I will not be shy about telling someone who approaches me to get a mask on or stay back. Sorry if I hurt your feelings but I am more important to me than you are....lol With my new knee this year I will be able to walk pain free around the grounds and check things out. Yes it will be different but there has been absolutely nothing happening up my way all summer. Following the CDC guidelines will hopefully give me one weekend this year. I can always pack up and go back home if it seems people just don't care about safety....So a wave this year will have to take the place of a handshake...I can live with that. Everyone is certainly entitled to their own choice of attending or not...God bless you either way...stay safe and lets hope there is a vaccine coming soon..

Just don't eat or use the bathrooms and you'll be fine.

I plan on going. Continue with your contact precautions of a mask, hand sanitizers and not touching your face. Respect others and their choices. No need to lecture people here about their decision. We are all enthusiasts and adults. Be nice, stay safe and enjoy what is left of a very frustrating and warm summer!
