Check Trip Advisor. Sounds like a flea bag hotel. If you want someplace decent and don't mind a half hour drive, try the Super 8 in Chambersburg/Scotland. $62 a nite.

There will be plenty of available rooms in better hotels than the Rodeway as August approaches and people who had made reservations find that they can't attend after all.

I think you tried the Carlisle Super 8, not the Scotland Super 8. I just checked. Lowest price per nite is $57.99 a nite. Highest was $77.99. I've stayed there before. It's clean and nice, with a lot of restaurants (including McDonalds) and a mall and gas station across the street.

Your welcome. We're staying there again this year. The drive to and from the fairgrounds is easy on 81. No traffic at all in the early morning.
