I stayed at he Holiday Inn in New Cumberland and it worked out well. The have a nice bar, decent restaurant, etc. and the room was clean. About $137 per night including tax. It's about 30 minutes from the Fairgrounds but with some traffic took 45 minutes.
Next year I was thinking of moving closer to the fairgrounds. While the weekend is still fresh in everyone's mind I thought I would ask what amenities your hotel had and how would you rate your hotel experience?
We stayed at the Days Inn in Carlisle. It's about 4 miles from the fairgrounds. All back streets from the fairgrounds to the hotel. 15 minutes MAX drive time. $140 a night with a 3 night minumum BUT I am willing to pay it. The rooms are clean. The staff at the hotel can't do enough for you.
Holiday Inn Mechanicsburg. They only had a handicapped room for me, but it was clean and looked recently redone. I'd reccommend it. Stayed at the Hampton Inn Carlisle before too and it was nice, but pricey. The Ramada Inn Carlisle............well, it's a good thing the only thing I did there was sleep. Lets leave it at that.

We also stay at the Days Inn in Carlisle and are very happy with it. There is NEVER a traffic jam going to or from the fairgrounds!! We are already registered for 2010. Nice place.
Hampton Carlilse, 5 mins to the fairgrounds, lots of resturants close by, nice pool, etc. Newer very clean rooms, and I am probably one of the guests that everyone else hates.
Hey John,
We stayed at the Red Roof Inn, North Harrisburg. It was just off I-81 and about 20 minutes to Carlisle. $73/night and decent room. No pool, but we just wanted a bed. In Harrisburg, we also went to the National Civil War Museum (incredible) and Appalachian Brew Company for an awesome/inexpensive dinner and their own beers.
Location: A little town on the shores of the Great Sacandaga Lake in the "Peoples Republic" of upper NY state http://www.visitsacandaga.com/

We stay at a Red Roof inn at 400 Cooperate Circle. It is also called out as Harrisburg North, but it’s at I-81 exit 69. It’s about the same driving distance. Rooms are clean, quiet and the parking spots are all extra wide. We have been staying there for about 9 years. By reserving and keep checking the rates on the internet we get rooms this year for $65 per night. No pool or restaurant, but all we need is a place to sleep and clean up as we normally are on the fairgrounds from 6am to 5PM.
For Corvette I've stayed forever at the Super 8 in Carlisle on Rt.11, just north of the Turnpike. It's nothing special, it's clean, with the typical breakfast in the morning. It's about 10-15 minutes to the field and I have a back way that takes no longer, that the hotel's owner showed me years ago, for when the traffics bad. $365 + tax for 3 nights and $79 for Weds.
For the Spring and Fall swap meets I had been staying at the Carlisle Quaility Inn on Rt. 11 north, right at the Rt. 81 exit. This is a very nice motel, with large clean rooms, breakfast and a bar. Unfortunetly, they've become very pricey!!, wanting $158.00 a night plus tax starting on Tues for Spring and Fall and Weds. night for Corvette. A friend and I split the room in the spring and fall, but at over $350.00 each for the 4 nights, we're thinking about going elsewhere.
