Northern Route 66?
Sorry for the heresy, but I got your attention.
I'm thinking about doing a Roadtrip next year through the northern states. Be starting in the east (Ohio) and heading west. Is there any route through Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, etc that's similar to route 66? You know.... Off the beaten path, maybe some history, old abandoned towns? I can take as many days as necessary and stay a night or two if there are things to see.
Thx.

Northeast South Dakota
Hi!!!
if you are going north as far as Northeast South Dakota, then Fort Sisseton State Park is a must see. It’s one of America’s best kept secrets.👍🏻.

then venturing down to Pierre, SD you can jump on Hwy. 34 which takes you to Sturgis, then Vanocker Canyon takes you to Nemo, a right turn and you are a few miles from Deadwood…. Then the options are endless.😎

And, if you were coming up this way, coming into Ortonville, MN and taking MN7 north along Big Stone Lake to Browns Valley (where you can see Sam Browns cabin) then going to Fort Sisseton from there is a really nice drive. Big Stone Lake is roughly 30 miles long.
