Default well so much for putting the car on the Dyno

Updated: down below

I've got a spot reserved for 4pm on saturday but with all this early white crap I doubt that will happen.

I'm really curious to see what you put down on a Dyno Jet, I hope you make it. Be sure to get a full print out showing the CF please.

I'm also hoping things clear up down here. I'm heading to PMP Saturday and probably Sunday too, hopin for a 10 .

If you want someone to tag along with you, give me a shout, Mike.

As it so happens, I have no plans at 4PM today, and I'd love to see that beast run.

The big melt is on! I may just follow you down there in mine......

Wet parking lot donuts? I'll bring the video camera.......

turns out the wife scheduled the start of our Halloween party for the neighbor kids at 4:30 today...so I couldn't make it anyway.

I just want a base line on the new motor build prior to finishing the stage III dry sump upgrade and a fast intake/seiman injector upgrade.

If I could just get alittle more trq/hp in the midrange I wouldn't be far off from my 454 LS7 that it replaced, with TONS more reliability on/off the track.

I'm not sure if I adjusted to the new motor power or if its down from the Old motor, dyno will tell. Might have to make some after work pulls sometime next week.

Default Finally got on the Dyno

Well, I finally got a chance to get the car on the Dyno. My parents were in town the weekend before thanksgiving, so my father and I ran down to dyno pro last saturday to see what the new motor puts down.

Not exactly Ideal conditions, Usually Rod Dewild ( Dewild motorsports who built this latest LS7 for me...and rebuilt my 454 last year too) accompanys me there to due a little tune/tweaking, but he was in Vegas for a big money Drag event with his Nova.

Anyhow, I was running a little late ( prepping the Bird to go into the oven when I got back) so I drove sratight down to Dynopro and drove right up onto the rollers,.... no cool down. Owner strapped it down and I made 3 pulls.

Car is running a bit rich at 11.9-12.0 AFR but I'm going to wait until I get the Fast 102 installed with the new injetors/fuel rails for final tuning. I figure once we get it dialed in.... it "should" surpass the 454 cu in LS7 that had to be pulled due to shifting standard Dartin liners...

Graph shows both 454 cu in and the new 427 cube in dyno graphs together...

My "little" GT-19 cam "small cube" 427 is putting down almost the same power (557/507) right out of the gate AND is "almost" putting down more power than LPE lists the GT-21 package producing (566/498). ( graph #2)

My only problem now is getting a good clutch to hold. Exedy clutchs are AMAZING to drive but should be reserved for stock or slightly modified C6Z's as I usually only get 1 good pass out of it at this power level.

Just found this side of the forum. What other items are on the motor besides cam? Do you drive Northwest Pkwy? I saw a JSB a few weeks back and he got on it a little and I could hear the exhaust in my subaru way back LOL. Are those number adjusted for the altitude?

lots of mods, LPE heads, callies magnum crank, diamond pistons. It goes on and on....and on.

I assume it was corrected for altitude. was done at Dynopro in Denver.

I drive the NW parkway 4 days a week everyday there isn't snow on the road. Its my daily driver.

Sometime I uncork it on my way home...lets me blow off some steam.

problem with cars like this, its rare to get enough road in front of you to let them breath. Thats why it spends a bunch of time at HPR.

Nice numbers Mike . Did you happen to get the correction factor on those pulls? I bet leaning it out to about 12.8:1 which is what my car liked the most would of showed a 7-9whp/wtrq gain so you're not far off the 454. My GT-21 package made 576whp/508wtrq corrected on a Dyno Dynamics dyno with a 12.8:1 AFR. The numbers in my sig are uncorrected. I hope it makes a litter more power with the new Diamond pistons that should be putting me at about 11.8:1 CR and 434ci.

Scuba,

Did not get the correction factor at the time, but he records everything..I'll give him a call.

My car ran at 12.8-12.9 on the old motor, so it was definately rich, not to mention full Op temp when it was put on the rollers. Rod mention messign with the correction tables for cold air. She idles at 17.18.0 with no cats...keeps the tree hugers happy, gotta love living in Weld county.

Sorry to hear about the last motor. Now Rod believes the rumors about those stock exhaust valves. He thought I was a little when I put solid SS in my first set of heads, now I'm running solid Ti everywhere = no valve float.

You'll love the diamonds I know I do and Rod did when building it.

Next step, fast 102 and some tuning...then I'm done with the motor and on to the brakes that I can hammer and a clutch that I can drag with for next season.
