Default Visiting Mt. Rushmore/Deadwood/ Black Hills National Forest-LODGING ADVICE PLS!!!

(ALSO POSTED IN CFOT SECTION)

We last visited SD 10 years ago with my daughters, and we are going back this August for a week with our son. We want to see the same sites---Mt Rushmore, Sturgis, Crazy Horse memorial, Cosmos, deep caverns, etc.
We want to stay 2 nights in Deadwood, and rent a cabin in the "woods" for 2 nights.

Ideas please!!!!!

1) I know we want to stay on the main drag in Deadwood---is one hotel/casino better than the other?

2) I remember seeing cabins on Rt. 385 or Rt.16 on our last trip, and I think our 9 year old son would get a kick out of staying in one.

3) Any other "must sees" ??????????

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Seeing as it is a 2000 mile trip that we take once every 10 years, I want to make it another memorable one.
Thanks again!!!

We like cadillac jacks the best in deadwood. Its about 2 or 3 blocks east of historic main street in deadwood. If you want to stay right on main street 4 aces is nice and mineral palace is good. There is a holiday inn express also but we havent stayed there. As far as cabins there should be some on 385. I dont pay a lot of attention to those because we usually stay in a fifth wheel camper.

If it's cabins you are looking for I would contact the Spearfish convention and visitors bureau or the spearfish chamber of commerce. I know there are some cabins between Spearfish and Deadwood but I don't know much about them. Both of these organizations are great to talk to and will more than help you with your plans.
