Default Road trip to AZ, Utah and Colorado

My wife and I are planning a trip to the Sedona,AZ area in early Dec. From there we'll most likely head north to the Grand Canyon then up through the Monument Valley area in Utah and finally to the Durango Colorado area before turning south and heading back to Texas.

Any ideas of things to see and do along the way will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Bill

Once you're done with Sedona (make sure you check out the art gallerys and Indian jewelry shops), slip up the Sedona canyon to Flagstaff. Or on the other side of I-17, try the Happyjack road from Payson to Flag. They are both beautiful and fun. Then head on up to Kayenta and the heart of Monument Valley. I drove through there once about dusk and a storm was moving in and lightening was striking the tops of the monuments; it was one of the most breath-taking things I have ever seen. Then on to Mexican Hat, you can see the rock formation from the road, then through Bluff, on up to Moab. Take road 128 on the north of Moab to Cisco (a ghost town). From there you can catch Interstate 70 and head on over to Colorado. The whole trip sure makes you feel small on God's earth.
