Benefits of turning 40

1. Color-coordinating walker
2. Won't have to pretend to fit in with the thirty-something crowd
3. Nursing homes start to look appealing
4. You're almost a grown-up
5. Future: Afgans and All My Children
6. Declare young children must respect their elders (in form of cash gifts
on your birthday)
7. Only twelve more years until your college loans are paid off
8. Can finally relate to Paul Newman movies
9. You're half way to being a golfer
10. Start to wonder how much longer you'll have to work in that hell-hole
before they recognize you for the genius you are and offer you early
retirement

Yo, I'm going to be in Wichita Sunday for some conferences.

I'm on the newspaper staff at school, and we're going to the Kansas Associated Collegiate Press Convention thingy at the Airport Hilton.

We're not scheduled to leave Liberal until noon. Hmmm... I wonder if we can bump that up a couple hours... Damn, I love BBQ.

That's a BIG negative.

I wish we had a few slims on staff, it'd make the 4 hour drive a bit more comfortable.

Yo,
So how was the birthday BBQ, guys?

I'm in the big city right now for the newspaper conferences. We're staying at the Hilton at the Airport. I brought home six individual awards tonight; 3 for sports news writing, 2 for sports feature writing, and 1 for sports photography. Hopefully there will be a few staff awards to bring home tomorrow.

Our conferences wrap up about noon tomorrow and we'll have some time to kill in the city before we head home. Any suggestions?

Cool, congratulations Chance.

The BBQ was good despite the weather. Good food, and a few folks from the F-body board dropped in.

Suggestions of things to do in Wichita???

GET OUT.................as quickly as possible.

Whew! I had a few close calls, but luckily I am safely back in Liberal now.
Until Friday at least, when I'll be back in the city for an art class field trip..... And there will be some fly slims along for the ride this time.

We're going to be visiting the Wichita Art Museum and some art exhibit on the campus of WSU. Any of these two places any good?
