Did you get rid of your O2 sensors or do you still have them? Also, how long had you driven the car before doing the test? You need to drive it for a good 15-20 minutes before even thinking about getting a test done on it.
I'm sure they tested your gas cap and it was okay, right? Did they say if it threw any ODBII codes or not? I had read before on a different forums board that the F-body's had problems with fuel vapor leaks which can cause the high hydro carbon errors.
But like Timmy just said, you should test it after it is really warmed up.
Does your state have a $ amount you have to show spent trying to fix the problem before giving you a pass? If so just go buy a set of injectors and show the receipt then take them back after you get passed.

We do, the limit is over $700 for '68 or newer cars, BUT if you still fail the test and want to get the testing waived, you had to spend that $700 at one of the registered repair places. So Matt if you are planning on Dragon to fix this for you, make sure they are registered or that they can definitely fix it.
The hydrocarbons are because of fuel vapors, so if your car is running really rich, or any cracks along the hoses from your tank or evap system (were you sitting in line very long idling), did you just fill your tank before going there? I know it sounds stupid, but can you smell gas anywhere?
Yep - never fill your tank before you go, make sure you have gas a few days ahead of time.
It could be a bad charcoal canister (if a C5 has one) or a plugged fuel tank vent line as well. I've heard of a pinhole in a gastank causing a failure as well. You need to hook it up to some diagnostic software (Dragon would have that) and just make sure that everything is functioning correctly with O2's and see if it is running rich or not.
Thanks guys, I am waiting for a call back from Dragon.
It seems like it could be some many things!!!
Can I try this without hurting the car:
"I just got a suggestion to take the tank down about to 1/4
and pour in dry gas + rubbing alcohol and that will do the trick?!?!?"

After I installed the LT + the cats I dynoed (3.20.04) and my A/F is
pretty consistent from 2.5 rpms thru 6.5 rpms at 13.5 - 13.0
That's fine there but when you are running at WOT you aren't using the O2 sensors to adjust the A/F and that's what you need to know is what the O2 sensors are reading and how they are responding.
hell i just ran some 105 octane gas and mine passed with flying colors! try that out for size?
Well, I have 32oz of Denatured Alcohol ready to go. Sitting at about 1/4 tank - I am going warm those cats up and give it a go tomorrow morn. Where can I get some 105 close to Highlands Ranch?

Bandimere does, but I think they only sell on race days. I think there is a sinclair on belleview & syracuse in the tech center that has GT100.
There's a place that I used to get mine off of Santa Fe & Belleview basically, can't think of the name of it. I don't think 105 is going to do your car any good for this problem. Try a new gas cap (again) or find out if you have any trouble codes.

Was it Duggan Petroleum?

I just went thru this with my Viper last month. I tried to pass with the RT high flow cats 3 times and the HC's weren't even close. I even tried E85 ethenol and that didn't help at all. On my 4th test I used the stock cats and the HC reading went from 3.55 down to 0.4. I think 1.2 is the limit. JUst need to swap the cats when a test is due.
So you don't think the high flow cats are really doing much then? That sucks, I was thinking about ordering some since mine have 123k on them now but maybe I will do that after I get emissions done again.
I think the problem with the high flows is at lower rpm's they don't get hot enough to operate. The slower parts of the treadmill test is where I was failing big time.
