Default [Denver] - 2005 April Fools day Rally

Down the Road Corvettes is holding their annual April Fools Day Rally on April 3 this year. If you haven't done a rally before, THIS IS THE ONE TO START WITH! This is by far the funnest event (next to a track day) that you can have with your car and your significant other.

More info: http://downtheroadcorvettes.org/rally.html

I'll be there and I hope some others from here will be there as well!

It usually wraps up around 3:00-4:00pm or so. It's a pretty long day but usually tons of fun.

I forgot to add that you will need a navigator, many have tried it by themselves but I don't think anyone has ever completed it on their own.

Just talked to Cristie and she said she could fill that position easily! So we might be showing up!

That's exactly what it's like! By the end if you haven't had at least 1 good argument or fight resulting in the car being turned around, you're doing something wrong! Just kidding - it's not that bad!

WANTED: Female navigator. Preferably in Mid 20s and a Corvette nut. Needs to enjoy classic vettes and convertibles. Likes chrome is a plus!

I finally got the loaner up and running ... but depending on the response to the above ad, it might be hard to get a navigator.

NOOO!! I would love to do this... my wife is going on a business trip that weekend though.

I had a '99 C5 that I traded for my 350Z... which I sold last week to pick up my Z06.

I'm flying into Birmingham to drive it back up here on Thursday.

Umm, you could say that I'm pretty excited!

Maybe I can catch the next event.

Default April Fool's Rally

I have to work that Sunday this year.
Hope the rally is better than the one 2 years ago. I skipped last year's rally because of the one 2 years ago. Never saw so many unhappy people. It was a joke. Many of us let Tim Barnes know how we felt about it! Hopefully the people that set up that rally aren't doing it again.
We used to really enjoy the April Fool's rally.

Last years was pretty good! My dad (Tim Barnes, Sr) doesn't run the rally anymore, he's turned it over to other members of their club.

I should clarify what the April Fool's rally is this year. It's really three events in one.

First is the rally. There are two possible routes this year so pray for no snow in the days preceding the rally. If the weather gods cooperate, the rally route will be a blast with some spectacular scenery and great freezones on twisty roads. If the gods don't cooperate so well, the route will be a fun drive with great questions to answer. Either way, the rally will end at a really great place to have a party. The usual trophies will be awarded for the rally including first, second and third place as well as the "Biggest Fool of All" trophy for the car that had the most fun with the worst score.

Then, there is a somewhat informal car show after the rally. The place where the rally ends is making some special arrangements to block off a street in the middle of a high foot traffic area so that you can share your ride with all of the people there. As I understand it, there will be some trophies and maybe some prizes as well.

Finally, for the NCCC points chasers, there will be a separate "Poker Rally". There will be a separate charge for this event and the funds collected from it will go to support the club's charitable event, "Tim's Challenge". The club supports several families during the holidays to create possibility for these families that have lost sight of what they can do.

It will be a very fun filled day to not only visit with old friends that you've lost touch with over the winter, but to make new friends as well. The ending location will have plenty to do while you patiently await the outcome of the rally and the car show.

The events should be over about 4:00 PM.

I know Tim Sr. didn't set up the rally 2 years ago. It was some other members of the club. But they did a very poor job, and Tim was the only one in the club I knew to complain to. There were a lot of very unhappy people.
I did hear last year's rally was much better, but I was so PO'd from the previous year that I didn't want to go last year.
