I have a possible interview with a company in KC. They mentioned that Overland Park is a great place to live. I have lived in TX my entire life, so moving to a place with seasons sort of scares me. I would like to learn about the area, what kind of home I can get for ~$150k, demographics, etc. Any and all information is greatly appreciated. I have read some on the OP website, but it is not informative to the level I need it to be.

Overland Park is a very affluent, southwest suburb of Kansas City. Very nice area, don't know how much house you can get for $150k in that area. $150k can get you a pretty nice home in most other parts of Kansas.
My wife grew up in Houston, she says she'll take the Kansas weather over the Houston humidity, crowds and traffic any day.
There are several communities around Kansas City. Some on the Kansas side and some on the Missouri side. 150,000 will get you an small to average side house (new). The ones from 150-190 will get you a really decent. Hope to see you and be a neighbor.

I live in Olathe, right next to Overland Park. What other have said are pretty much true, but $150K will get you a smaller, older house in Overland Park. The new ones that are 4 bedrooms in the new part of town will run $225-275K.
I am from So. Cal originally and I love it here (except winter) I work in Overland Park for Sprint and we enjoy a nice lifestyle here.

Now that I have insulted half the KC-Metro area , I will sign off...but I would suggest coming down and checking out the area before making a final decision.
I am a misplaced Texan and have been in the KC area, 50 miles east, and I think it is a very decent place to be. In the 4 years I have been here the only real complaint I have about the winter weather is how long it is. This week is the first decent weather since mid-December.
Summer is short as far as temp goes. Sometime in July it does get up into the 90's and for about 3 weeks the humidity is like south Texas but not as bad as Houston.
The area seems to be fairly car crazy. I have seen more NICE restored cars here than anywhere I have been. It seems as soon as the weather gets nice there is a car gathering almost every weekend.
I was in Warrensburg for 2 years doing my Air Force stint, and would have stayed in the KC area if the chance to move back to the mountains had not poped up. 4 years ago you could get a hell of a lot of house for 150k if you did not mind a bit of a commute. I thought the summers were HOT, but then I am not from Texas. It has some of the best steak houses in the country and fantastic BBQ. The best BBQ joint I know of is in Warrensburg.
