Default Hello, Kansas!

So, the movers got the house in CA packed up last Friday, & we hit the road on Saturday... Got to the Grand Canyon Saturday eve, and up early on Sunday to see the sunrise on the canyon... Fantastic! Hit Tucumcari Sunday night, and then on to Manhattan on Monday. Trip was uneventful except for one of "KS finest" who nailed me for 80 in a 70 on I-70 east of Salina (and he cut me a break, as I was cruising a little faster than that...).

The moving van arrives in the morning, the 'vette is absolutely filthy, and we hope to meet up with some of you locals in the near future!

Cheers,

Steve & Karen

Welcome to the land of Blah's Steve.
I'm hanging out in your old neck of the woods for the next couple of weeks. Yep, I'm in sunny???? OK, cloudy, rainy Southern Cal. Ontario and Pomona to be specific. What fun, how could you ever really enjoy your Vette on these crazy freeways and side roads out here? We Kansans like our wide open spaces, unfortunately you met one of the reasons we only occassionally turn them loose. Glad he cut you a break, I guess that's your welcome to the neighborhood gift.

Welcome to Kansas, where the mountains will never block your view, nor the oceans' salt spray ever corrode your car (the calcium chloride in the winter will, though!), and the wind always blows north or south.....sometimes both.

Welcome to Kansas, like Paris Hilton: white, flat, and easy to enter!

Congrats on the move.

Steve and Karen, welcome to good ole KS. I can't help but to ask though....why are you here (in Kansas)? Don't get me wrong I love Kansas, just trying to figure out why!?

I grew up in Manhattan, and other than service time, have spent most of my life here. We left for CA in 1987, but there are two kids here in Manhattan and one in St Louis, and we just felt it was time to escape the crowds & come home to spend some time with the grandkids....

Well, glad to have you back then. I know what that grandkid calling card is worth....My wife and I have 5, three here and two in KC. And I really know about escaping the crowds...The only crowds we see are when we drive past a feed yard. Are you still going to work for the "Vette Net"? Must be a tough job dealing corvettes all the time.

I was over at Bowinkle's with a couple of friends, so it probably was mine...

Picked up a case of vino over at your place last week - they said you'd just left....

I love to stop at that scenic overlook coming south out of Manhattan. Makes you wonder what was going through the pioneers minds when they were looking at all of that flat land.

I know the spot you're referring to - but I wouldn't call it "flat." More like "endless horizon," as the hills just seem to go forever....

Yeah, "endless horizon" is a better description.
