PS, the JOC package fit very well. I ended up greasing the bar mount bushings and mounting them without flat washers so the bar is a little on the resistive side when mounting, but not quite as resistive as the OEM installation.

The JOC bar comes with new polyurethane mounts you might find interesting. The shocks will raise your car back to the OEM height too.

    Hi Jim!

I had the DRM's on and decided to replace the sway bars too. I thought the T-1's might be a little too much for street tires, I decided to go with the JOC package, shocks and bars. I bought into the sales pitch this was a tuned package, and so far it seems to be the case though I haven't been able to have time to go to the track to really push them hard and to set the rear bar. There is a noticeable difference in roll stiffness, the shocks are similar in response to the DRM's, and the DRM's were easy to sell.

I'm caught up in a move to Phoenix Arizona. My wife and I plan to move into a winter house there when we retire, life is too short for wet winters! It looks like there are three tracks to play on, plus Southern Cal isn't that far away. It would be great fun to meet up with you sometime.

    Jim,

When you upgraded shocks to the DRM's did your car end up sitting a bit lower? I lost about an inch from brand new, I hadn't really noticed it until the bump steer issue. I haven't done anything beyond wheel alignments and the shock upgrade.

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for responding to my thread in the So. Cal. section. It looks like you are the "go to" guy as for C4's. I think I am having issues with my PCM. Car starts and runs for 140-15 minute and just dies. I just replaced the optispark and water pump, and still have the issue with the engine dying. The PCM has a custom chip it it. I bought the car that way. I have driven the car for about 60,000 mile, and it has 87k on the odometer right now. The engine is stock as far as I know. The previous owner installed shortie headers. Any guidance you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Like you, I also have a C6Z.

    Hi Jim,

Thanks a lot for your help on the question I posted last week regarding the 1988 C4 in Dubai. I am still in the same problem man, going crazy. But finally today I took the car to a garage that has the device to check the car codes, but I do not have much hope except that I shared with them the excellent information you gave me. let's see how it goes.

I will receive the coolant temperature sensor from US on the 26th

I will keep bothering you again until I fix it!

Tech Vette man Vettes are just a hobby and since I grew up around race cars the ability to understand and fix them sort of rubbed off

A "shimmy in the rear end" huh? I'm not going there! Ok, in all seriousness several things come to mind....

    - loose lug nuts
    - rear wheel bearings (total PIA btw)
    - Suspension bushings
    - Bad rear shocks
    - fatigued rear spring

I'll assume you checked the lug nuts and made sure they were all tight Generally a bearing will make a grinding or whirling noise. Soooo, that leaves bushings. If I had to guess, I'd look real hard at the trailing arm bushings and the camber rod bushings. Basically the car needs to be put on jackstands and then you check for excessive play. If the bushings are bad, it'll be really obvious. You can look at the rear shocks for signs of fluid leakage and frankly if you're in doubt regarding the age of them, I'd replace them. If the spring is bad, generally the car will sit really low in the rear, it may sit higher on one side vs the other, and it'll bounce a lot over bumps.

Without being able to look at the parts in person, this is a problem that is tough to trouble-shoot via the 'net.

Keep me posted, let me know what you check/find out and we can probably work thru it.

Hey there Tech Vette man, lol

Hope the new years being good to you all!. I have a new question. Hopefully you may some suggestions as to what it could be.
I have a shimmy in the rear end. Like I have a loose whell, which I don't. Any idea what might be causing it?

Thanks a lot for all your help!,
