Hi Jeff, in a earlier post you talked about slotting the A arms for 5 degrees of camber and changing to the jeep steering box as two of your best mods. I'm about to take on the box, any tips on the slotting a arm process?

Selfishly I'm glad you have not sold it because you and that car are a real asset to the corvette community. But I know how too many toys can be a pain in the ass and it is tough to build a couple expensive cars at the same time.
    Good luck with the sale.

    Jeff,

A little of both I suppose. I do want to sell it, you can only have so many toys and I really am wanting to move full speed ahead on the 65 Coupe project. I have had a few potential buyers, but none that have moved forward and delivered a check. I will really hate to see it go, it has surpassed everything I hoped it would be.

Your PM box is full. I was touching base with you about Grand Sport Replica's in DFW.

    Hi Jeff,
No - I did not get your reply today regarding driveshaft lengths! Any help would be appreciated as I'm going to the driveshaft place tomorrow!

I love your steering wheel - what year is it, and what is the covering?

Every time I reinstall my original steering wheel on my '65, I hate it and then take it off, replacing it with my smaller but larger grip LeCarra wheel. But it doesn't look any near as good as yours.

    Thanks!

First let me say the T5 is a great way to go, smooth and quiet and it will fit. There are some areas I can't answer. If you use the GM T5 you need the GM bellhousing which tips the trans 17 degrees so the shifter comes out in the correct place. The only trans to get is one from a V8 camaro or firebird 1982 thru 1991. Your Muncie slip yoke will fit. The later versions have a electric speedometer pick up and I don't know what the conversion consist of. You will have to make a shorter drive shaft by about 1.5 inches. You also have to make a different clutch fork length (I added 1 inch to the fork). As far as the cross member I built my own removable one before I put the T5 in so I don,t know how it will fit with the stock one, but I feel like it will go in ok. That is a brief over view, but I know it is worth the effort. You should be able to do it all if you find a used T5 for around 500.00 for 1200 to 1500 dollars.

I would like to ask your honest opinion on this subject. I am ask very often about this and have been considering putting a kit together including a new T5 trans and and everything you need to bolt in a midyear and drive off. It would have to be around 2500.00 dollars. Do you think that would be something the midyear crowd would be interested in?

If you have any more questions on doing the GM T5 feel free to ask.

    Good Luck Jeff

    Jeff,
First let me say that I saw your car @ Carlisle this year - and it looks awesome!!! I've also been following the many threads about your T5 overdrive transmission for several months. The resent trip to Carlisle in my 66 roadster (L79) with originals 4:11 gears reinforced what I've been thinking for many years - I need an overdrive also!!! While I'd really like the new Richmond 5 speed overdrive, my budget tells me I should look @ a T5 like you did. My research tells me I should get one with a 2.95 first gear - and two part numbers came up (1352-000-249, or 251). Can you tell me if those are good numbers??? - and can I install it without pulling the engine and using the original crossmember??? Thanks for any help!!!
    Tom
