In my experience wider tires do improve the ride.

There will also be an increase in rolling resistance with wider tires.

And of course there will be an increase in traction. And it is possible for the traction level to get too high for the driver skill. Basically, the car might straighten-up while still in a curve if the driver backs off too much.

But the 265/305 tire sizes look about right for the Corvette. Tire sizes of 285/325 are possible 56/79mm wheel offsets and wheel widths of 10"/11.5" but require removal of the rear brake ducts and and require suspension lowering to tuck the tops of the tires. In comparison the 265/305 tires on 9.5"/11" wheels at about 52mm/74mm wheel offsets are an easy setup.

    Hello B Stead,
I was interested by your remark in a thread named "Z51 without Mag Ride". Would you care to discuss your remarks by private mail or phone?

"Anyway, if the Z51 owner gets 9.5"/11" wide wheels (at about 52mm/74mm wheel offsets) and either 265/35-18 with 305/30-19 or 265/35-19 with 305/30-20 tire pairs, that will improve the ride."
