Years ago one of the magizines did an article on building a L48 that got to 325HP using a Crane cam with a little more lift. I thought about going with it but I decided to stay with this one. Not sure if that was the best decision but I can't complain with what I have.

Cam is the life blood of the motor. I stayed pretty mild with the crane cam I bought when I was doing my build but with the Edelbrock heads and magnaflow exhaust system I am pretty close to 300hp I was looking for.

I have no problems with the way it runs and it will break the tires loose if needed. Still it is not a race car by any means.

Redwingvette, I also have a '73 red corvette with a performer intake and I'm adding a Holly carb. I asked the question on google and it took me to this site. I thought I would mention that I was born in June '57, and work in Waterford. Small world... How much difference did the cam make in your motor?
