Hi Jeff, I have an old bear recovery machine like yours. Do you still have it? did you ever find a book? If so ---do you think you could make me acopy or direct me to where you got it? Thanks

I was hoping if you could take a look at my fourm question:

    https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...alignment.html

I really think my AC belt is too wide being .47 (compared to other two belts) causing it to look off center.

    Thanks..

    Jeff:
Need clarification, please. Dash bulbs (1416). Will these bulbs fit into the tubes attached to the clock housing for lighting the center console? (64 W/air). I assume there are three bulbs?
Reading all those threads concerning LEDs because of dim original lighting...confusing. Drove my 64 four hours in the middle of the night and original illumination was just fine. Only problem, top right AC control is out. Might as well replace all in console at one time. Thanks,

    Jeff:

Where exactly should the ID numbers be stamped on top of the radiator. I have the rectangular Harrison Aluminum Radiator sticker on the right side. (Using a trouble light and angling it just right I can just make out the "ghostly" writing along with the instructions). Cannot find any stamped numbers however. (64 Coupe AC). I was intending on getting a Dewitts at Corvettes at Carlisle hoping that would lower my temp. Using an IR Gun at the thermostat housing verifies the aftermarket gauge is reading as it should. It runs abound 205 on a hot day cruising without AC. Also the AC temp at the vents when on shows about 51.4. Should be colder, but I can worry about that after I get the engine temp lowered. Tested the IR after letting the engine warm up in the garage without AC on.
    Thanking you as always.

    Jeff:

AC related question. You stated you have a Dewitt Radiator in your AC Coupe. I have a 64 AC Coupe. I was searching for a Dewitt Radiator for AC. All that were listed (Zip's Corvettes) were non-AC. I talked with Austin from Zips and he could not find a listing for an AC Dewitt Radiator. What model number did you purchase.
    1. Did you opt for the spot on reproduction Dewitt (887.00) or did you just get the Dewitt (559) model?
    2. On installing the Dewitt: Is it a simple R and R (after taking off the clutch fan, etc)
or do you have to modify any of the AC fittings as another manufacturer stated one has to do.
I am pondering putting in a new radiator. I don't want to cut corners, but then again, 887 is a lot for a radiator compared to other prices. However, if it is worth it, I won't hesitate. Thanks again.

I realize that about the thermostat. I was just hoping it had a higher temp one in it and that I could go lower getting rid of the heat before it built up. I haven't driven the Vette that much since I got it. Just one long trip to the shore last Sept. As far as I know, the temp has been around 200+ since I got it. Now that the air is working and I have been driving it around the area, I noticed it climbs there and stays. It has twice bogged when I went to take out from a stop (Not too good in traffic). I will have to take a look at the radiator to see what it is, but I have a feeling it is the original.

Well, as usual, nothing is as simple as one hopes. I opened the thermostat housing this AM hoping to find a 195 or at least a 180. As luck would have it, it was a 160. I did not put an IR temp gun to it yet but the Mallory temp gauge reads 195 plus going down the road (on a not humid day). I put a new gasket and 160 thermo in just to be sure. I guess the next thing to tackle would be the clutch fan??? (but when cruising, it should not be in the equation???) I can't remember having a heat problem with my original 64 way back when. A base HP engine should not even have to think about heat. I would be more at ease with the gauge reading 180 most of the time. (64 Coupe 250 HP AC)

Ok, time for your saged advice once again: Today I washed my 64 Coupe. When I went to move it, I noticed several drops of water dripped onto my left foot. I had noticed that once before. Is there any "one common problem location" where vettes are known to leak? I was thinking around the windshield wiper post under the vent grille work?????
I was just hoping that you could save me some frustrated hours chasing this down. Thanks once again for your help.

    Jeff:
I hope the photo is attached. Found this wire tied up under the dash. What does it clip to? I have two other pics but they are fighting me on tinypic. There is another bulb connector. It has a flat metal side with a small hole in it. That is wire tied as well. Also, under the battery meter there is an empty capacitor loop. I assume that was for the "amp gauge" . Where exactly on the connector for the amp gauge does it attach. CC lists several capacitors and I believe the one I need is that one. Howevere, it appears that the connector on the wire is just a flat spade. Thanks once again.
