Callaway does not recommend replacing the OEM MAF. Too many instances of repeated codes with too little return on investment. Ported throttle bodies range from worse than stock to much better than stock. The best, like the billet throttle body we used to build, made about 5 - 7 hp more than stock, in a bone-stock engine. I would recommend starting work on the exhaust side before changing MAF or throttle body.
Make sure the screen is out of the stock MAF; there is hp to be gained there with no disadvantages. GM did this in later C5's.
I'm thinking of adding a Callaway Honker intake to my bone stock '00 vert. I'm also adding a CAI MAF and alum. housing. I've read some advantages to upgrading the throttle body as well while I'm adding the CAI. Any thoughts. Also how frequent are lean codes as I'm waiting to see the results of the CAI before adding headers, etc.
Thanks.
