    Warren,

I wanted to reach out in hope of connecting with you regarding the CDN LS-6 #115133 that I recently bought from Don Foster (Pikeslayer). I noticed that you commented many times in his 2015 thread when everyone was trying to determine if this was a real car. Based on the Canadian info I felt comfortable enough to purchase the car with the goal of restoring it - I also have a Canadian LT-1 so I was familiar with Canadian docs and process.

Anyway I noticed one of your cars (per the C3 registry) was built on April 20 which is the same day as this car so I was hoping to obtain date code guidance and other LS-6 help sourcing appropriate engine parts. As a long time protector of the LS-6 history I hope you have suggestions that can assist me in bringing this significant car back to the road. I can be reached at 913-206-3646 or Tmarquis3021@gmail.com. Hope to speak soon. Thanks, Troy

I had PMed you some time back. I'm attempting (re)compile data I lost of rare model info. Can you help by providing a detailed listing of ZR-1/ZR-2/LS-6 cars by interior/exterior color and options, possibly with VINs? I know you spent time compiling much of the info. Thanks in advance for any help. -Blake

Warren, As I said, I sent out a vial of Penn Grade 1 20W-50 to be analyzed by my brother who is a chemist. Got his report back today. They emulsify the solution and put it into some analytical equipment. Immediately it picked up on the zinc and phosphorus in its elemental nature. That is zinc and phosphorus in its pure form. He advised me that other additives are used to make it into ZDDP which would increase the posted zinc level by the oil manufacturer. Below is what he wrote and I have an attachment of his calculations in PDF but don't know how to attach it. If you send me your email address, I can send it to you. Please note rough guess cause he doesn't know all the variables. He said "probable" oil additive. He made assumtions based on zinc dialkyldithiophosphate listed on the bottle of oil. They mainly analyze additives used in the construction industry. My thoughs, I feel confident that the oil does contain atleast 1500 ppm zinc and phosphorus. Looking forward for your results.

    John

The oil sample in the vial definitely has Zn and P. On an elemental
basis, both Zn and P are present at roughly 500 ppm. If I convert the
element into the probable oil additive, a very rough estimate would be
    2500 ppm or 0.25%.
