I actually live outside Burleson, on the profile I say Fort Worth because no one knows where Burleson is . The 72 project car is in 2 large pieces and a hundred or so small ones. Usually home on the weekends. I'll give you a call and we can talk 72 vettes.

I had to split my message into 3 pieces because of word limits on messages, sorry for the long message:

My car is very original and the parts I have replaced are reproduction parts (except for Al Knock seats, which look original) I have a few more things to work on, but I plan to submit it for NCRS flight judging soon to see how far I have to go, I would like to eventually achieve “Top Flight” status but I have a ways to go. I am going to start on the underside of the car soon.

Our 2016 is a torch red convertible with black 3LT interior. We use this as a touring car. We had originally bought a 2015 coupe, but we missed having the ragtop. Think this will be our last new one so, I bought the bullet and traded the coupe for the roadster. We love it so far.

So far I have had the engine pulled and replaced main seals, oil pan gasket, timing chain and gear, intake manifold gasket, plug wired, distributor cap, motor mounts, radiator, front shaft U-Joints, and gas tank. On the interior, I replaced the seat covers and foam, carpet and both pillar post trim pieces. I also put in a new radio bezel when I removed an aftermarket radio and replaced it with the original AM/FM stereo. Someone had gouged a hole in the bezel to make the aftermarket radio fit. I also have had the “beauty rings” restored. Instead of putting them on the car, I stored them and put some aftermarket cheapos on it to keep them new.

Cindy and I are doing fine these days. We get to Lafayette quite often, but it is normally a quick trip to see our daughter’s family (that now includes our 7 grandchildren!) We would love to dine out with you and Garnet on one of those trips though.

About the 72; I bought it from the husband of the original owner, who passed away a few years ago. She received the car as a college graduation gift. It was purchased originally in California but spent most of it’s time in Reno Nevada. It was seldom driven after the 90s, maybe once a year, and had 49K miles on the clock when I bought it. It has matching numbers on the engine and transmission, but is just a small block coupe with an automatic transmission. It has power brakes, power windows and tils/ telescopic and also a one of those cool AM/FM stereos radios.  Everything works except the radio. It worked on the bench test, but not in the car.

Hi Don and hope you and Cindy are doing well!

Holler when you pass through and we will go eat and catch up.

On the painting, I have 3 projects needing paint and was planning on doing it myself.

For smarter people, Thad in Eunice did paint some Corvettes, but told me last time, that he was not painting any more Corvettes. There is a guy in New Iberia, but he might be retired and got some feedback that I would share first. Another one or maybe 2 in BR, need to check. Would not do the Lafayette guy you mentioned. Call when convenient and I will tell you what I know. Pat Branch 225 802 7568. Also Mark West knows another painter in Jennings that is worth checking out.
