Default Paging CorvettePartsBob...

Bob,

I am ordering a C6 coupe. I was thinking of ordering the dual roof pkg, but understand it is on constraint. What would the cost be for the transparent roof panel for a C6 and what is the cost for the painted panel (millenium yellow)? If I have to get only one top, what would be the best option and what would be best to buy afterwards?

Default C6 roof panel

Hello,

Regretfully GM Parts does not have either roof panel available yet. I have called them and they can't even give me an eta for availability. Another case of GM being right on the ball with parts for a new model car. My GM Parts rep will be in the store next Friday and this is one of the many things I have scheduled for him to work on including a lot of the new accessories for the C6. A year ago I threatened GM with holding my old parts rep hostage untill they took care of a few problems, but they said I could keep him. This rep is quite new to our region so I will see if he can get anything done. I will put a post out with what he can come up with.

Thanks for the update.

I do need your advice on this one. Knowing what you know about the C5, which top is less expensive to purchase in the aftermarket as a part: the painted top or the transparent one? If I can only order 1 top when the car is built, which is the better deal? I will buy the other top when it becomes available later on.

Default top question

I have had several people call me on this exact same question. You may be one of them I just don't remember.

My suggestion if GM goes by the same pricing as they did on the C5 tops; would be to order the painted top with the car and then order the clear top later. With the C5, the tops are the same price for either top, but then you need to have the solid top painted which will probably be in the $200 range with most body shops. With that assumption the glass top should be less expensive to order after the fact.

Thanks Bob. Yes, we did speak this week. I called you direct and this is what you told me. I have ordered my C6 coupe with the painted top and at some time after delivery I will call you to discuss the clear top. Thanks for your guidance and advice on this issue.
