Default How does "GM Certified" warranty work?

I have been browsing the web for another vehicle and came across one advertised as "Certified" with warranty even though the original warranty had expired. Is this a real GM warranty or should I be cautious that this as a "dealer" warranty and would not be honored across the country.

Thanks for any light you can shed.

Bob

Hello Bob!

It's been awhile since we have chatted. I still remember my son and I meeting you and your son for breakfast in Billings!

GM Certified:
To even be considered for the GM Certified program, a vehicle must be 2005 or newer, with less than 75,000 miles.
GM Certified Used Vehicles are only available through select GM dealers.
100,000-Mile/5-Year Powertrain Limited Warranty*
12-Month/12,000-Mile** Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty
117-Point Inspection
Vehicle History Report

The powertrain warranty begins from the original in service date. The bumper-to-bumper warranty begins when you purchase the certified vehicle.

It's a great program! We are GM Certified dealer and have been very successful.

Have a great day,

Thanks Ken, yes I remember that trip well. We missed seeing you when we passed through on our way back to Canada when I bought a SSR in 2007 but did stop in and pick up a bunch of parts from Bob. I still stay in touch with Bob and continue to buy my parts from you, most recently a flywheel/clutch for my Vette last month.

The vehicle I'm looking at is a 2004 SSR and the dealer was a little evasive when I asked about the Certified warranty he was advertizing. That one fell off the table for other reasons but thought it would be good to hear the real story.

Thanks again and I will drop in next time we are through Laurel
